Weald & Downland Living Museum - Home of The Repair Shop<br />

Beautifully situated in the lovely West Sussex countryside this superb open air museum<br />

includes rescued traditional rural buildings. The site has recently shot to prominence as the<br />

sit of the hit BBC series - The Repair Shop. The 40-acre site has 50 buildings to explore and<br />

many are exhibit houses, furnished to recreate historic domestic interiors. There are different<br />

domestic demonstrations on most days in the exhibit houses – dairying and cooking, spinning<br />

or weaving. Plenty of time here to enjoy the setting - lovely new café overlooking the mill<br />

Forde Abbey & Gardens, Somerset<br />

This superb former Medieval Abbey was founded by Cistercian Monks in 1140 and became<br />

one of the richest monasteries in the country. Set in the lovely Somerset countryside, the<br />

house is surrounded by 30 acres of award winning gardens described by Alan Titchmarsh as<br />

'One of the great gardens in the West Country'. The garden offers something for every season<br />

with Spring bulbs and Summer borders. Around the grounds there are sculptures and<br />

architectural features plus a cascade of lakes and the impressive Centenary Fountain, at 160ft<br />

the highest powered fountain in England. Inside you can discover the lives of monks in the<br />

fascinating Monastic Rooms whilst the house contains fine furniture and houses the ornate<br />

Mortlake tapestries. Head for the Undercroft Tearoom for delicious homemade food for lunch. There is also a gift shop, plant centre and pottery<br />

Horse Drawn Canal Boat & Marlborough<br />

Step back in time with us, as we head first to one of our favourite<br />

stopping places, Marlborough. This archetypal English Market town has<br />

that 'film location' quality and is a great spot to stroll around and enjoy<br />

the 'Kennet Valley' horse drawn barge for a 2 ½ hour cruise along the beautiful Kennet & Avon Canal. This wide beam passenger boat was purpose built<br />
