believes the experience
within the dressing room
could prove to be crucial to
United’s hopes of securing
automatic promotion this
season.
Speaking honestly and openly
ahead of welcoming promotion
chasing Watford to Bramall Lane
at the weekend, the 32-year-old
stopper has called for calm and
perspective despite a couple
of untimely defeats this month
which has seen the advantage
between themselves and
Middlesbrough reduced. Wes
though didn’t shy away from
accepting the importance of
returning to winning ways this
afternoon, whilst acknowledging
Slaven Bilic’s Hornets will prove
another tough nut to crack.
A blank midweek in the
schedule has been used
wisely revealed the Blades
number one, with boss Paul
Heckingbottom using the extra
time on the training ground to
iron out minor issues that have
hampered performances in
defeats to Middlesbrough and
Millwall, but Wes feels returning
to S2 today, followed by
Wednesday’s Emirates FA Cup
tie against Tottenham Hotspur,
will hopefully provide some
welcome home comforts.
Finally, and unsurprisingly,
Wes is delighted to have
proved his worth between
the sticks in South Yorkshire,
establishing himself as the club’s
first-choice goalkeeper under
Heckingbottom, but he's also
keen to praise and welcome
the support he receives from
those closest to him, namely
coach Matt Duke and Wales
international Adam Davies.
