JOHN CHASING MORE MILESTONES
John Egan is
focused and
determined to
write the next chapter to
what he has described as
a ‘fantastic journey’ at
Bramall Lane, having made
his 200th appearance for
the Blades last month.
The Republic of
Ireland skipper has been
a constant in United’s
backline since his arrival
from Brentford in the
summer of 2018 and
his double century and
counting in red and white is
something he is immensely
honoured about.
Speaking recently, the
centre-half commented: “It
is a proud achievement to
wear the Sheffield United
jersey, so to do it 200
times is very special. It has
been a fantastic journey
so far and I have loved
every minute, here’s to
many more.
“I’ve developed a lot
on and off the pitch, I’ve
improved as a player, really
enjoyed my football and
thankfully we’ve had a lot
of good times too. It has
been a special time to be
at the club.
“The hunger is there,
the determination to be
successful again is there
and most importantly the
PLAYER FOCUS
group want to improve
every single day. It is a
great environment to work
in, a great club to play for
and the fans are special.”
During his time as a
Blade, United have won
automatic promotion
to the Premier League,
enjoyed a ninth-place
finish in the top-flight and
following relegation came
agoninsgly close to an
instant return last term.
But with United currently
sitting second in the
Championship standings,
John is focused only on the
future and not past glories,
insisting concentrating
on the next game is a
mindset that has served

John continued: “We’ve
had a lot of success in
previous seasons and
before my arrival it was a
club certainly on the up. If
you look around the place
it is a quality club on and
off the pitch, it is a club
moving forward for sure.
“We have to keep
looking ahead and
preparing for the next
game, the next opportunity
for a victory and we have
that next game mindset, we
give everything for the next
challenge in terms of our
focus and preparation and
that won’t change.”
