UTB: How crucial could the
experience, particularly of
the Championship, be as we
approach the business end of
the season?
WF: “We’ve got so much
experience within the group
and that is certainly a strength,
a lot of the lads have been in
this exact situation before and
then gone on a played in the
Premier League, others have
been involved in promotion races
before and those experiences
could prove to be invaluable
between now and the end of the

season. This isn’t a time to panic
or worry, it is a time to embrace
the challenge, handle the
pressure and expectation and
ensure we get ourselves over
the line. It is more about points
than performances and we’ve
proved already this season we
can win games when we aren’t
at our best. To the outside that
might paper over the cracks, but
it is the sign of a good team if
you can dig and scrap for three
points. We’ve had two poor
results and the important thing
now is making sure it doesn’t
extend further. We’ve got a
driven group, led by a driven
manager and I’m sure if there is
a group that can bounce back
from a couple of setbacks it is
this one.”
UTB: Off the back of a good
week’s training, how much are
you and the lads looking forward
to welcoming Watford to Bramall
Lane today, followed by what
promises to be a fascinating
FA Cup clash on Wednesday
evening?
WF: “We always look forward
to playing at Bramall Lane, the
atmosphere is always fantastic,
and I know the supporters will
be desperate to see us return to
winning ways at the weekend.
It will be another tough game,
they are all going to be, Watford
will be difficult opposition to
face, and they will be coming
here full of confidence having
beaten West Brom but that might
be a good thing if they come
and be open. They are chasing
promotion and will be looking
to build some momentum with
players returning from injury, but
we are under no illusions about
how much we need the points
and we will be going all out for
the victory. The only focus is
trying to beat Watford at the
weekend, but the Tottenham
game is another opportunity
for those selected to get some
minutes and do well against
Premier League opposition. It is
a distraction, but a chance if the
manager decides to rotate for
some lads perhaps, and hopefully
if we are promoted then it will be
the standard of opposition we
are facing every week.”
