<strong>Ngan</strong> <strong>Chun</strong>-<strong>Tung</strong> 顏 震 東 (1926-2005)<br />
<strong>Ngan</strong> started his photographic career in the<br />
darkroom. Basically self-taught, he perfected his<br />
printing technique and offered printing service<br />
since 1954. For almost a decade, he also gained<br />
his living by participating in photography contests,<br />
earning a modest amount of money and fame. He<br />
was awarded Hon. member of The Photographic<br />
Society of <strong>Hong</strong> <strong>Kong</strong> in 1964, and was President<br />
and Vice President of The Chinese Photographic<br />
Association of <strong>Hong</strong> <strong>Kong</strong> during 1968 to 1982.<br />
As soon as he retired in 1982, he set up school,<br />
focusing on teaching printing in the darkroom.<br />
<strong>Ngan</strong> had published books on practicing<br />
photography and darkroom techniques. His only<br />
monograph “<strong>Ngan</strong> <strong>Chun</strong>-<strong>Tung</strong> Black and White<br />
Photo Collection” was published in 2003.
