CSA
Joining a CSA (or
Community Supported
Agriculture) program
connects you directly
with local farms in your
community. Members buy
a “share” of a farm’s harvest
upfront and receive a
weekly box of fresh produce
or other farm goods. With
that commitment early on,
the farmer is able to invest
in the growing season.
Traditionally, CSAs were
centered around produce,
but you can also find
specialty CSAs for meats,
flowers, and more. As CSAs
have grown in availability
and popularity, different
models have developed,
often allowing you to
customize what’s in your
box, how much food you
get, or how you pay for it.
