Farmers Markets photo courtesy of Southside Community Farm Farmers markets—often called tailgate markets in our region—can be community hubs. A trip to the market is more than just a chance to pick up the freshest Appalachian Grown produce, meat, cheese, eggs, and artisan products. By buying directly from the farmers growing, raising, and producing food in your community, you build relationships, support family farms, and strengthen the local food economy. You discover new foods and commit to preparing nourishing meals for yourself and your family. You contribute to a healthier community and support your own wellness. Plus, it’s often a chance to get outdoors, meet a friend, and enjoy yourself! Farmers markets are listed by region. Some markets extend their seasons for the holidays in November and December with late-season produce as well as locally made gift items.
