Kristina Bobrova: A journey of 

artistic evolution in the world of 

music 

The world of music is an ever-evolving 

landscape, with artists constantly 

pushing the boundaries of what’s 

possible. One such artist is Kristina 

Bobrova, a violinist whose passion for music 

has led her on a journey of artistic evolution. 

Kristina’s journey began at a young age 

when she started playing the violin and piano 

at music school in Russia. It wasn’t long before 

her prodigious talent started earning her awards 

in competitions across the country. She went 

on to pursue her education in violin, earning 

her Diploma from Kemerovo State University 

of Culture and Art. In addition to that, Kristina 

holds many certificates and diplomas and has 

received numerous awards from prestigious 

institutes. 

Her career as a professional musician began 

with a violin duo, where she performed in shows 

and events across Russia. Her talent led her 

to work with other ensembles, serving as a 

music illustrator and soloist alongside a range 

of other musicians. She even took her music 

abroad, performing in shows in India. 

However, Kristina’s move to Abu Dhabi marked 

a new chapter in her musical journey. She became 

a resident violinist at Catch Restaurant and 

Lounge, performing at weddings and events. 

Kristina’s versatility as a musician has allowed her 

to evolve her artistry and expand her repertoire 

to include both classical and contemporary 

styles on both the acoustic and electric violin. 

Her repertoire ranges from Bach and Vivaldi to 

modern house and dance music, and includes 

genres such as jazz, blues, and world music. 

Kristina’s dedication to her craft and passion 

for music continue to inspire audiences around 

the world. Her artistic evolution is a testament 

to the power of hard work, perseverance, and a 

love for one’s craft. We can’t wait to see where

Anika Simeth, born in 1991 in the small 

town of Roding, Bavaria, has always 

been passionate about drawing and 

painting. Her artistic journey began 

in high school, where she took two years of 

advanced art courses, learning various 

techniques. Art and English were her main 

subjects, and upon graduation, she pursued 

her dream of becoming a professional artist. 

Today, Anika is a self-taught oil painter, 

continually refining her skills and techniques. 

Her realistic works are deeply inspired by clouds 

and waterscapes, with the intention of taking 

the viewer on a mesmerizing and calming 

journey. With great attention to detail, Anika 

aims to capture moments that stop people in 

their busy lives, inviting them to pause and 

appreciate the beauty around them. Anika’s 

artistic inspiration stems from real-life moments,

MK Goyal is an abstract figurative 

artist from Delhi. Art has intrigued 

him since childhood which led him 

to pursue a Master’s in the field of 

Fine Art from Jamia Millia Islamia University. MK 

has been greatly stirred by the ancient Indian 

culture and its civilization which transpired in 

his art since the first time he held a brush. With 

Indian culture coupled with abstraction, his 

art took a different avenue into depicting the 

different forms of spirituality on his canvases. 

MK’s Bharat Series is a beaming example 

of spirituality where he portrays the impact of 

the worldly five elements on human life and 

wildlife alike. His work reveals the connection 

between realism and abstractum. He is currently 

working on Naga, Sadhu and Aghori sadhu 

,Purnima and Bharam series as well. 

MK uses fresh vibrant colors on a dynamic 

transparent background to give a “never seen 

before” feel to the canvas. 

His participation in the national and interna- 

tional art exhibitions and art competitions like

The Appeal of Abstract Art: 

Discovering artistic charm 

beyond realism 

Art has been an integral part of human 

history and culture for thousands of 

years, serving as a form of expression, 

storytelling, and communication. From 

the earliest cave paintings to the intricate 

masterpieces of the Renaissance, art has 

continued to evolve and adapt to the changing 

times and cultures. One such genre of art that 

has emerged in the last century and continues 

to gain popularity is abstract art. 

Abstract art, also known as non-representational/ 

non-objective art, is a genre that has been 

around for over a century and continues to 

captivate audiences around the world. It is 

a form of art that seeks to break away from 

the traditional representations of reality and 

create something entirely new and unique. It 

is an art form that does not rely on realistic 

depictions of the world, but instead explores 

the boundaries of form, colour, texture, and 

composition to create works that are evocative, 

emotional, and thought-provoking. 

Tracing the Origins of Abstract Art 

The origins of abstract art can be traced 

back to the early 20th century, a time of great 

social, political, and cultural change. Many artists 

at the time began to challenge the traditional 

methods of representation in art, which relied 

heavily on realistic depictions of the world. They 

sought to create something entirely new and 

different that would capture the spirit of the 

times and express a new vision of the world. 

One of the earliest pioneers of abstract art 

was Wassily Kandinsky, a Russian artist who 

believed that art should be an expression of 

the artist’s inner emotions and ideas rather 

than an imitation of reality. In 1910, Kandinsky 

created the first abstract watercolour, which 

he called “Composition V.” The painting was a 

breakthrough in the world of art, as it marked a 

departure from the traditional representational 

forms of art and opened new possibilities for 

artists to explore. Another notable artist who 

contributed to the development of abstract 

art was Kazimir Malevich, a Russian painter 

who is credited with creating the first purely 

abstract painting, titled “Black Square,” in 1915. 

Malevich believed that art should be free from 

the constraints of representation and should 

instead focus on the pure elements of form, 

colour, and texture. In addition to Kandinsky 

and Malevich, many other artists, including Piet 

Mondrian, Joan Miró, and Jackson Pollock, made 

significant contributions to the development of 

abstract art in the early 20th century. 

Interpreting the Art that Transcends Realism 

Abstract art is often open to interpretation 

and can evoke a wide range of emotions and 

reactions from viewers. As such, the meaning 

and interpretations of abstract art can vary 

widely depending on the artist’s intention and the 

viewer’s personal experience and perspective. 

Simply put, the meaning and interpretations 

of abstract art are as diverse and varied as 

the artists themselves. While some works may 

be more easily understood than others, the

beauty of abstract art lies in its ability to evoke 

emotions, spark imagination, and inspire new 

forms of creativity and innovation. 

One common interpretation of abstract art 

is that it is a visual representation of emotions, 

thoughts, and ideas. By using colour, form, 

texture, and composition, abstract artists aim 

to convey a sense of mood or feeling that 

transcends language and speaks directly to the 

viewer’s subconscious. Another interpretation 

of abstract art is that it represents a departure 

from the constraints of traditional forms of art, 

and instead seeks to explore the boundaries 

of form and colour. By breaking away from 

representational forms, abstract art frees the 

artist to create something entirely new and 

unique, often resulting in works that are both 

striking and thought-provoking. Some artists use 

abstract art as a means of social commentary 

or political expression. For example, the work 

of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo often featured 

abstract elements that reflected her personal 

struggles with physical and emotional pain, 

as well as her political beliefs. 

Executing Non-Representational Art 

Abstract art involves a variety of practices 

and techniques. Some artists use bold, vibrant 

colours and create dynamic, expressive 

brushstrokes to evoke an emotional response 

from the viewer. Others focus on texture and 

form, using unconventional materials such as 

sand, plaster, and metal to create abstract 

sculptures and installations. Still, others use 

digital technology to create abstract works 

that are entirely computer-generated. One of 

the most interesting aspects of abstract art 

is the way in which it can be interpreted and 

experienced differently by each viewer. The 

lack of representational elements allows for 

greater freedom of interpretation, allowing the 

viewer to project their own emotions and ideas 

onto the work. 

Abstract Art in Contemporary Light

Creativity that is inspired by emotions 

“In principle, anything can become a theme and inspire me to create something new: a film, a 

book, situations from everyday life, observed interpersonal interactions, art and travel to new 

places as well as new people,” says Anna Bocek 


Anna Bocek studied at the Academy 

of Fine Arts, Faculty of Painting 

& Set Design and is a painter. She 

has exhibited her works in dozens 

of solo and group exhibitions across various 

countries such as Poland, USA, Netherlands, 

Germany, Sweden, Spain, France, 

UK, Italy, Austria, Greece, Czech Republic, 

and Taiwan. 

Anna draws inspiration from everything 

around her, but her strongest driving force 

of artistic activities has been the theatre. Her 

creative journey started with working in the 

theatre, but her fascination lied in the human 

being that existed within it, which is evident 

in her entire body of work. She expresses 

her fascination through intense colours, almost 

realistic figurativeness with abstraction, 

dynamic representation of characters, 

and treating paintings as a sort of study of 

human moods. Anna often creates larger 

formats and even expands them by adding 

additional panels while experimenting with 

the combination of strong, decisive colours 

to present such strong, diverse emotions. 

For Anna, the most significant and strongest 

aspect of her creativity are emotions. She 

creates intuitively, and in order to express 

them, she subconsciously chooses appropriate 

expressions, symbolism, and dynamic 

colours. Anna believes that the symbolism 

and message in her paintings are quite obvious 

- at first glance, there is physical beauty 

and gentleness, but on the other hand, there 

is inner power, strength, and independence.

“My love of Asian art began with a visit to a Japanese Museum 

in 1995, a time in my life when I sought to see the world from a 

different perspective,” says Carlos 


Carlos Delgado Aleman is a contemporary/transitional 

artist based 

in South Florida, USA. After spending 

many years as a product designer 

for a tech and media company, he followed 

his passion for art and became a part-time 

art teacher for young people. His artwork is 

inspired by his students’ love for Japanese 

anime and his long-held fascination with Asian 

art. Aleman’s artwork is often described as 

spiritual, as many of his pieces depict subjects 

with inner light or otherworldly illumination. His 

goal is to create pieces that evoke a sense 

of wonder and mystery, inviting the viewer to 

contemplate the deeper meaning behind the 

images. Aleman’s work explores the intersection 

of identity, pop culture, and transcendence. His 

artistic style is characterized by bold, vibrant 

colors and acrylic techniques that respond to 

Asian inspiration, including Chinese landscape 

paintings and Japanese woodblock prints. 

Aleman has exhibited his work at Art Palm 

Beach and has been featured on PBS’s Art 

Loft television program and numerous gallery 

shows in South Florida.

Exploring Realism in 

pencil art: The Journey of 

José Escárcega 


Jose Escárcega is a remarkable pencil 

artist and influencer from Toluca, 

Mexico. 

José Escárcega is a Mexican artist 

in search of technical perfection, since 

2016, his work as an instructor of illustration 

techniques led him to explore various media 

such as watercolor, colored pencils, pastel, 

acrylic paint and even scratchboard drawing, 

among many others, but undoubtedly 

what he is most passionate about is drawing 

with charcoal and graphite. 

Since his childhood, José explored drawing 

by copying characters from cartoons 

and anime that he saw on television. It was 

not until the university that he developed his 

skills, with studies in Industrial Design and 

Visual Communication. Although his life 

would take a complete turn when, along with 

a group of illustrators, they formed a team 

dedicated to teaching different illustration 

techniques. It is at this time that he goes 

from being a person who likes to draw to a 

professional in the field of realistic drawing. 

His work revolves around the human face 

and its expressive capacity. In his paintings 

you can see a devotion to realism, representing 

intricate textures and effects on the 

skin, an expression of his concern to know 

the human face down to the smallest detail. 

Experimenting is part of his essence, because 

in each of his paintings he adopts a 

different approach; water, paper, paint, metal, 

elements alien to the face that adorn it 

and enrich his work as an artist, because for 

José, learning something new is a daily task. 

Holding a pencil and drawing with it is like 

the air he breathes, because there is no day 

that does not pass without drawing. 

His creative inspiration comes from other 

artists such as Jono Dry, Kim Deuk young, 

Emma Towers-Evans and Dylan Eakin, along 

with his partner in life, embroidery artist Ceci 

Santamaria. 

Currently, after having renounced from his 

job as an instructor, José is in a process of 

personal and artistic rediscovery, transforming 

his life and dedicating it to art one 

hundred percent. Occasionally, he continues 

to offer courses to share what he knows 

and plans to make the transition and take his 

content to various platforms such as You- 

Tube, Twitch and Patreon, with the dream 

that his skills and work will lead him to know 

the world and other artists, to be able to form 

a global community with incredible talents 

and passion for sharing everything about 

art.

A Unique take on absurdity 

and environmental 

awareness through Mixed 

Media 


Inga Markstrom is a mixed media artist and 

stop-motion animator with a unique take on 

absurdity and environmental awareness. Her 

work is heavily inspired by vintage children’s 

book illustrations and surrealism, and she is 

entirely self-taught. Inga is based in the Pacific 

North West, where she uses primarily discarded 

books and magazines to create her art and 

puppets. 

Inga’s focus on environmental issues sets her 

work apart from other mixed media artists. She 

uses her art to spread awareness of problems like 

the garbage patch in the oceans, microplastics 

in fish, genetic mutations, disposable culture, 

forever chemicals, and pollution. Through her 

work, she aims to bring attention to these critical 

issues and encourage people to take action. 

Inga’s art is bizarrely beautiful, with a focus 

on the absurdity of life. She uses her collages to 

explore the strange and unusual aspects of the 

world, often incorporating unexpected elements 

like animals, insects, and machines. Her stopmotion 

animations bring her characters to life 

and add another layer of depth to her work.

to the power of creativity and its ability to

“Behind some of the most important movements historically, 

you find that African art is at the root of it,” says Joseph 

Awuah-Darko. 


Joseph Awuah-Darko (b. 1996, 

London, UK; lives and works in 

Accra, Ghana) is a British-born 

Ghanaian contemporary artist best 

known for his multi-disciplinary practice 

of painting and woven tapestry work. His 

practice autobiographically references 

major broader themes of depression [mental 

health], spirituality and identity, as well as 

procreative sexuality. 

Beyond acrylic paintings, Joseph earnestly 

employs interdisciplinary techniques rooted 

in local poster design with works on canvas. 

Additionally, Ghanaian basket weaving and 

European tapestry-making are also engaged 

to create both abstract and loosely figurative 

works that depict symbols of spirituality - 

rendered in the dystopian beings he describes 

as Sentinels which famously reference the 

Akuaba fertility doll originating from Akan 

culture in Southern Ghana. Often depicting 

moments of conflict or amorous harmony, 

Awuah-Darko pulls influences from African 

literature, Ashanti poetry, and internalized 

cognitive dreams played back to himself. 

The tapestry process usually begins through 

the weaving of found plastic which is a material 

he deliberately utilizes in acknowledgment 

of its complex history. Plastic acts both as 

an industrial friend and environmental foe 

given its domestic use yet peril towards the 

environment respectively. With a documented 

autobiographical history of suicide attempts, 

Awuah-Darko’s work presents idiosyncratic 

visions of the perennial battles with mental 

wellness and identity, while also alluding to 

the complicated histories of capitalism and 

systemic policing. Joseph utilizes segments 

of weaved Ghanaian basket-making, and 

commercial dyes and incorporates satin 

roses to create the figurative elements 

within the conceived large-scale woven 

tapestries. Influenced by artists such as 

Henri Matisse, Magdalene Odundo, El 

Anatsui, Andy Warhol, and Atta Kwami, he 

repetitively investigates emotion through 

form and shapes, interlacing reality with 

his singular magical escapist dream state 

often aligning with his global view. The 

artist emphasizes a sense of community as 

he attempts to increasingly place artisanal 

everyday Ghanaians in the center of his 

artistic production as a key attribute to his 

creative proliferation.

Arabic manuscripts exhibition opens in 

Sharjah 

HH Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed 

Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member 

and Ruler of Sharjah inaugurated 

“The Arabic Manuscripts Collection 

of El Escorial” Exhibition at the Sharjah Book 

Authority (SBA) on Sunday 02nd April. The 

event, which was held in collaboration with 

the El Escorial library, opened to the public 

from April 2 to April 9. This exhibition marks 

the first time that the largest collection of rare 

Arab artifacts from the El Escorial Library has 

been displayed outside of Spain. 

During the event, His Highness the Ruler 

of Sharjah toured the exhibition, which showcases 

14 rare manuscripts from the 13th to 

16th centuries. He was briefed on the history, 

contents, and authors of these rare Arabic 

manuscripts preserved in Spain. The Royal 

Palace of Madrid has granted the manuscripts 

authorization to be publicly displayed in the 

Emirate for the first time. 

The Sharjah Book Authority’s commitment 

to the Arab cultural movement and fostering 

intercultural dialogue with European and global 

cultural hubs is demonstrated through this 

exhibition. The Authority’s collaborative efforts 

with cultural and educational institutions, including 

historical libraries dedicated to preserving 

ancient manuscripts, aim to facilitate public 

access to them. 

The most precious manuscripts on display 

include “Kitab al-masalik wa-lmamalik” by Abu 

Obaid Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz bin Muhammad 

Al-Bakri Al-Andalusi, the oldest item at the 

exhibition, dating back to the 13th century. 

Another notable work is “Kitab sarh al-uyun fi 

sharh risalat Ibn Zaydun” by Jamal al-Din ibn 

Nabata al-Masri. The exhibition also features 

various other rare works, including a copy of the 

Holy Quran (known as Mushaf Moulay Zidane). 

The inauguration was attended by several 

prominent figures, including Sheikha Bodour 

bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of the American 

University of Sharjah, His Excellency Sheikh 

Salem bin Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of Culture 

and Youth, and His Excellency Abdul Rahman 

bin Muhammad Al Owais, Minister of Health 

and Prevention.

and high endurance for rocky terrains. Our 

troop included, Rafeez Ahmed, Rohit Bharati, 

Mahak, Kaunain Hyder, Sakshi Gautam, 

Jasmine Jose, Basil Winfred, on a threeday, 

two-night adventure trip to Fujairah. 

The trip was around an hour from Dubai. 

As a small gesture, we welcomed our 

friends with gift boxes filled with goodies 

from Ajmal Perfumes, Le Meridien Dubai, 

Monviso Water, Shankar Trading snacks, 

and El Sabor chips and dips. We were 

excited to begin the journey in the beautiful 

outdoors of Fujairah. 

After setting up the camping platforms 

and enjoying a delicious iftar catered by Roti 

Dubai, made from good fats maintaining our 

heart health as well lip-smacking biryanis 

from Karachi Darbar, we set out to explore. 

The Ironman 4x4 Jeep Gladiator took us 

vthe rugged rocks, bumpy terrains and 

breathtaking landscapes. We had tables, 

chairs, refrigerator, oven, and even a portable 

hand wash made by IronMan to comfort the 

camping experience. After dinner, we all 

gathered around a cozy bonfire, indulging 

in board games and relishing shisha by 

OOKA. The versatility of Ooka was truly 

impressive, as it could be enjoyed with 

or without nicotine, catering to everyone’s 

preferences. The setup was a breeze, and 

its portability made it even more convenient. 

The array of flavor pods that Ooka offered 

was simply amazing, adding an extra layer 

of delight to the experience. The night with 

games, laughter and fun under the starry 

night will remain as a memory forever. 

The second day began with a delicious 

breakfast, starting from special Masala tea 

infused with Diamond saffron, chocolate Spreads, 

crunchy peanut butters and mouthwatering 

wraps. We then set out for adventurous 

activities offered by Fujairah Adventures 

Park, beginning with an exhilarating kayak 

followed by hiking with breathtaking views of 

Fujairah. After a morning full of adventure, 

we indulged in a mouthwatering lunch with 

Filli’s, party box of assorted wraps, samosa 

box, and signature zafran tea. 

After a satisfying meal in the park, we 

were in need of a quick refreshment as 

the sun began to set. BBQ Box had us

Arabic Ice Latte. Sipping on these delicious 

and unique drinks, we took a moment to 

relax and enjoy the cool breeze and warm 

company. With our energy replenished, we

In the beautiful Fujairah wilderness, we 

spent the afternoon biking, hiking, and 

mountain climbing amidst stunning scenery. 

The rugged mountains, rolling hills, and lush 

greenery took our breath away. In the midst 

of our adventure in the Fujairah wilderness, 

we took a moment to hydrate with Monviso

at the unspoiled beauty of our surroundings, 

from the rugged mountains to the rolling 

hills. The sunset views are just amazing.

complemented the tea, and an amazing

set the tone for a perfect day, leaving us 

energized and eager to immerse ourselves 

in the park’s activities one last time. As we 

explored Fujairah Adventures Park further, we 

couldn’t help but feel grateful for the chance 

to discover the park’s natural beauty and 

array of experiences. When it was time to 

pack up and leave, we departed with fond 

memories and a deep appreciation for the 

unforgettable adventures we had at Fujairah 

Adventures Park. 

We left Fujairah Adventure Park with 

unforgettable memories and a newfound 

appreciation for the great outdoors. For 

those seeking a thrilling escapade, this 

park is a must-visit!

My work attempts to appeal to both, our animal and

There were never enough drawing 

papers in the house. Leeah Joo’s 

earliest childhood memories include 

searching for scraps of paper to draw 

on. Her mother had to stow away all mails and 

bills so the toddler wouldn’t scrawl on them. 

With a sculptor father and an illustrator mother, 

leeah was exposed to artists and art-making 

early on. Born in Seoul South Korea in 1971, 

she grew up dreaming of becoming a manga 

artist one day. At age ten, she moved to the 

United States with her family. She studied 

painting and art history at Indiana University 

in Bloomington, where she fell in love with the 

traditions in Western painting. Since completing 

her MFA in painting from Yale School of Art in 

1996, her work has been widely exhibited in 

U.S. and South Korea. She lives in Connecticut 

with her family where she divides her time 

painting and teaching at Southern CT State 

University and Paier College.

Manuela Karin Knaut, born in 1970, 

is an independent artist currently 

living in Braunschweig, Germany. 

She acquired a Master of Arts in 

Fine Art at the University 

of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, 

South Africa. 

She has been a member of many prestigious 

and international art alliances such as the Bund 

Bildender Künstler (German Association of 

Visual Artists), the Association Internationale 

des Arts Plastiques, The Visual Arts Network of 

South Africa (VANSA) as well as the International 

Womens Association. 

Since 1990 Knaut‘s work has been shown 

internationally in numerous exhibitions and art 

fairs in countries all over the globe such as 

South Africa, Ghana, Switzerland, Denmark, 

UK, Austria, USA, Israel, China and Kirghistan. 

Her works are part of notable private and 

public collections across all five continents. 

Knaut´s works can best be described as 

constant discovery and seeking of the unknown. 

Whether that is on the streets, in exchange with 

other creators or online- her inspiration stems 

from everyday life and people. Knaut plays with 

contrasts, restlessness and the wild, chaos and 

peace, abstraction and figurativeness. She 

incorporates many different styles, media and 

techniques such as silk screen print, acrylics, 

graffiti, oils and ink. 

Her artworks have a very high recognition 

level as they circle around similar motives and 

styles but never stay the same either, since 

she enjoys venturing on new terrain, such as 

her latest NFT and Augmented Reality projects 

to complement her painterly works.

producer with a passion for resin art 


Daianaz is a talented and versatile artist who explores various 

styles of art and events production. Based in Dubai, she 

has produced over 800 events and art projects for the UAE.

DJing. Her latest achievement was performing as the only female

Joanna Patejuk was born in Poland of 

Ukrainian origin. Drawing on the creative 

inspiration of legendary artists who have 

captured her heart, Chócherko tells her 

own stories through prominent figures from 

film, stage, and art. She is a graduate of the 

Academy of Physical Education in Gdañsk and 

has been combining her three passions - horses, 

camels, and art - while traveling the world for 

over 20 years. She is a professional jockey, 

horse racing trainer, camel champion jockey 

in the C1 Championship, and a self-taught 

artist who found her home in Dubai 13 years 

ago. Joanna is a partner in the creative agency 

Visual Art Media Studies & Consultancies LLC 

and the creative director of her own brand, 

Chócherko Art. 

Chócherko Art’s “Naughty Girls & Superheroes 

Collection” is exclusively represented by 

SamaLAin Gallery, and her paintings from

Altartour. 


Born in 1998, professional realistic 

artist Rawa’a’s artworks are a blend 

of human and animal figures with 

nature elements, attracting several 

worldwide collectors. Specializing in pencils 

and oil paintings, her passion for art started at 

a young age, when she participated in several 

schools and local art competitions after her first 

year of school. Her love for art grew stronger 

as a teenager, and she decided to pursue

bachelor’s degree in interior design from Abu 

Dhabi University in 2021, Rawa’a managed to 

accomplish several high-level projects based

Rawa’a’s artworks are mainly realistic, and she 

loves experimenting with new materials and 

techniques, always striving to create her own

college years, Rawa’a began participating in

A master of colorful and unusual illustrations 


Taisija Kalinina was born in the small town 

of Visaginas, Lithuania. She was born 

into a family of professional artists, so 

from an early age she drew scribbles 

on the walls and furniture in the house. Her 

parents encouraged her creativity and allowed 

little Taisija to be herself. 

The future artist has always been inspired 

by cartoons, books, comics and illustrations. 

She liked to come up with stories and draw 

them. Later, anime culture entered her life and 

began to define Taisija’s art style. 

Taisija graduated from the art school 

“Reflection” (2010 - 2014) and in 2016 she 

entered the Vilnius Academy of Arts (Vilniaus 

Dailės Akademija). There, the artist studied 

for six years and received a master’s degree. 

Participated in various international projects, 

symposiums, educational activities. Organized 

and participated in personal and group 

exhibitions. 

Studying academic drawing, painting, textiles 

and other creative areas, the artist gained her 

experience and skills. She tried many techniques 

and searched for herself. 

Instagram and tiktok are an important part of 

her life. Thanks to social networks, Taisija has 

found an audience with which she is happy to 

share her creativity and inspiration. 

The artist has always had a rich imagination, 

this allows her to invent and portray unusual 

characters. 

The artist lives in Vilnius, the capital of 

Lithuania. Today, the main inspiration of the 

young creator is popular culture, Japanese 

animation and bright colors. 

She is still experimenting with different artistic 

techniques, depicting realistic and stylized 

drawings and illustrations. The portrait and

Armed with polyurethane foam, 

epoxy resin, and acrylic, artist Dan 

Lam sculpts technicolor forms that 

ooze, bubble, and trickle in long 

drips. She layers materials into masses of 

neon color progressions and textured blobs, 

forming amorphous puddles and mounds with 

cavernous insides. 

Internationally acclaimed contemporary artist 

Dan Lam is an artist based out of Texas. Lam’s 

drippy sculptural work explores sensational 

dichotomies by mixing unconventional materials, 

organic forms, and bright colors. With contrasting 

themes verging on beauty and grotesqueness 

at once, her art provokes its viewers to ponder 

meaning and existence while inspiring feelings 

of familiarity and wonder. 

Dan Lam was born in the Philippines to 

Vietnamese refugee parents. The small family 

made their way to Texas when she was just a 

baby and was established in Houston. Later, 

she and her mother would move to Dallas, TX. 

Always one to follow her intuition and passion, 

she pursued an academic path in the fine arts. 

Dan obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts from 

the University of North Texas in the fall of 2010 

and went on to a Master’s program in Fine Arts 

at Arizona State University, graduating in the 

spring of 2014. 

Inspired by the great luminaries James 

Turrell, Olafur Eliason, and Lynda Benglis, Lam 

is known for her bold and unique sculptures. 

Curiosity, play, and fun are the foundation of 

where Lam’s work begins. Her experimentation 

results in beautiful sculptures created with various 

materials such as foams, polyurethanes, resins, 

acrylics, and polymers, which defines her style. 

“While the ideas drive the work, much of

most interested in the viewer’s experience and 

how my work encourages people to engage,

an impressive and dedicated social following, 

Lam is in awe to see the impact of her work in 

real-time, which she finds terrific and humbling. 

Lam has exhibited at the Nasher Sculpture 

Center in Dallas, Texas, at venues across the 

US, from San Francisco to New York, as well as 

around the world, such as Paris and Munich. 

“I am currently most 

interested in the viewer’s 

experience and how my 

work encourages people 

to engage, interact, and 

feel the need to want to 

touch the piece,” says 

Lam. 

Her work is in the collections of celebrity 

clients, including Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, 

2 Chainz, The Game, and Lily Aldridge, and 

notable art collectors like the Tisch family. Lam 

has collaborated with prominent companies,

apprehension and, sometimes, when I get lucky, exhilaration. My language is color,” says David 


David Stephen Johnson (b. Pittsburgh, 

1949) is an abstract painter based 

in Westport, Connecticut. He was 

awarded a scholarship to college 

as a star quarterback, playing for South 

Dakota State, and later earned his BA in 

Business Administration at the University of 

Minnesota, Carlson School of Management. 

He lived in Chicago in the 1970s and shared 

a studio space with a sculptor at the Chicago 

Art Institute. He fostered his love for art while 

developing a series of paintings for his first 

show at Riverside Gallery. 

He embraced his self-taught path in painting, 

building a deliberately unpublished body of work 

studying color and shape, partly influenced by 

post-war abstract expressionists. His natural 

athleticism and grace led him toward the great 

action painters. In 2017 he retired from the 

business to pursue his passion for painting. 

October 2021 was David’s first solo show 

at ArtExpo New York on Pier 36 in Manhattan 

with his new abstract paintings. 2022 brought 

an invitation by Alpha’a to join their roster of 

international artists for participation in numerous 

prestigious showcases and projects happening 

around the world. Both David’s large-scale 

canvases as well as his new works on paper 

were selected to be included. Currently, Indigo 

II hangs in the newly opened Molteni&C flagship 

on Madison Avenue in New York City. 

David’s works are in numerous private 

collections in Greenwich and Westport, 

Connecticut, Westchester County, New York

Isabelle Breitkopf, born 1990 in Clermont- 

Ferrand, France, lives and works in Mainz. 

There, she studied cultural anthropology and 

business administration and simultaneously 

discovered her passion for abstract painting. 

Her art captivates with its abstract play of colors 

in soft to cheerful compositions, with complex 

structures and a unique expressiveness. 

Whether with rags, sponges, spatulas, 

painter’s rolls or other everyday objects, 

you have every means to bring the complex 

structures to the canvas. The acrylic paint is 

processed in several layers on a canvas lying 

on the floor. Inspiration for the artworks can be 

found in her everyday environment.

Eikenbary 


Jacey Eikenbary is a visual 

artist, educator, and future 

art therapist from Ohio, 

USA. Her current body 

of work features her love of bold 

colors and abstraction along with 

her recent exploration of female 

portraiture. Jacey has had a love 

for creating since she was a child 

and can remember drawing, 

sculpting and illustrating 

her own stories from a 

young age. 

Jacey studied art 

education at Ball State 

University and has taught 

art in elementary schools 

and art studios for over 

5 years. She teaches art 

classes, focusing on a 

variety of techniques and 

materials, to students of 

all ages within the Dubai 

community. She is also 

currently studying for her master’s degree 

in art therapy. Jacey’s aim is to bring her 

lifelong passion of creating and her interest 

in mental health together to help advocate 

for the healing, expressive qualities art 

possesses. 

Jacey is currently building her portfolio

Unveiling the intimacy of the unconscious 

through geometric abstraction 


Matthias Esch is a visual artist who 

was born in Andernach, Germany 

in 1988. He obtained his Master’s 

degree in Fine Arts from several 

institutions, including the Kunst-hochschule 

in Kassel, Antwerp, and Berlin from 2009 to 

2015. Before pursuing a career in the arts, Esch 

completed an education in winemaking from 

2003 to 2006. He currently lives and works 

in Berlin. 

Esch’s art is characterized by a formal 

reduction, where he uses geometric ornaments 

and structures to convey a metaphysical feeling. 

He aims to find an expression beyond the 

concrete, using other symbols and signs when 

language and its semantics fail. His mistrust 

of language is the driving force behind his 

subjective systems, which convey a sense of 

intimacy and reveal the unconscious. 

Esch has exhibited his work consistently 

for the past ten years, both nationally and 

internationally. His latest publication, Banality 

of Structure, refers to the highly complex and 

subjective process he employs in his art. 

Esch’s work is a reflection of his belief that 

art is more than just a message, but rather a 

means of expressing something deeper and 

more profound.

the work of Sébastien Chéramy 

“If I had to identify any constants in my work, I would analyse it this way, walking in the streets 

we often find things ... the walls are emergences, we can find symbolic elements. Why I have a 

suggestion with these images, I have never reasoned, I am intuitive,” says Sébastien Cheramy. 


Sébastien Chéramy is a talented French 

painter who has dedicated his life to 

the arts. Born in 1979, he showed an 

early interest in drawing and painting, 

and his passion for art only grew as he got 

older. After graduating from the stained-glass 

trades, Chéramy pursued a PhD in Art History 

at the university level, which ultimately led him 

to focus on painting. Chéramy’s abstract style 

is both thought-provoking and captivating, 

and his work has been featured in numerous 

exhibitions around the world. He has gained 

the respect and admiration of collectors and 

fellow artists alike, and his paintings are highly 

sought after by those who appreciate the 

power of abstract expressionism. Chéramy’s 

approach to art is deeply personal and intuitive. 

He draws inspiration from the walls he sees 

around him, finding meaning and beauty in 

the scratches, damp spots, and cracks that 

others might overlook. For Chéramy, these 

imperfections are symbolic of the passage 

of time and the constant presence of life and 

death. He creates his paintings slowly, building 

up layers of material until they take on a life 

of their own, and he allows the work to evolve 

and take shape organically.

it, but I would like my work 

to lead the viewer to reflect, 

to meditate in front of an 

abstraction that is not one, 

my work takes the viewer 

towards the “real”, at least 

the one I perceive,” says

In addition to his solo work, Chéramy 

has collaborated with several galleries and 

organizations. In 2022, he collaborated with 

the Los Angeles gallery WALL VS ME, the 

Berlin gallery KOLLEKTION-WIEDMANN, the 

French gallery SAUVAGE.ART, and the Chinese 

gallery YUDIAN GALLERY. In addition to his 

work with LEVEL 57 in Atlanta, ARTLAB in 

Italy, GALERIE ARNAUD BARD in Paris, and 

GALERIE GABEL in Biot, France, he has a 

number of other partnerships set to debut in 

2023 as well. 

Sébastien’s art reflects his individuality and his 

ability to see the extraordinary in everyday life.

What inspired you to become an artist, 

and how did you first get started on your 

artistic journey? 

I have always been a very curious and 

creative person. Even as a young child, I 

would dig and search for treasure in the 

garden, finding shards of pottery and fossils. 

I always felt very connected to the natural 

world and the beauty within it. Later, I was 

exposed to ceramics and started my journey 

into the 3-dimensional world. 

How have your travels around the world 

influenced your art and creative process? 

Having been lucky enough to circumnavigate 

the globe numerous times, I have been 

inspired by the things that connect us as 

humans. The similarities and differences 

have inspired me and have been important 

in the creation of my work. 

Could you describe your process for 

creating large-scale sculptures in various 

mediums, such as steel, natural materials, 

ceramics, and snow? 

I have worked with many different materials 

throughout my career, including natural 

materials such as Prairie grasses and snow, 

steel, marble, ceramics, and currently bronze. 

Creating large-scale sculptures is not for 

the faint-hearted. There are many factors 

to be considered, and it’s more of a fusion 

of architecture and engineering. Moving 10 

1/2 tons of marble around in the studio can 

be a matter of life or death, but that makes 

it even more challenging and interesting. 

Can you share more about the concept 

and inspiration behind your collection 

“The Forms of Origin,” which explores 

the feminine divine, sacred geometry, and 

the story of life expressed in sculpture? 

In “Forms of Origin,” I dug deep into 

myself and what it means to be a woman 

in this society, particularly as a woman of 

a certain age. Women are often dismissed 

and considered not very vital anymore 

after their childbearing years. In “Forms 

of Origin,” I wanted to express the power 

and beauty of all women, regardless of 

size, race, age, or economics. I wanted to

show the universal essence of beauty in the 

curves, the sensuality in an elegant, graceful, 

and universal way, not in a sexualized 

trivial manner. Tapping into nature, natural 

cycles, and sacred geometry helped with 

the realization of these powerful, beautiful 

marble and bronze forms - soft and hard, 

hard beauty. 

How has your experience teaching at 

the university level informed or influenced 

your art practice? 

When I taught at the university level, 

I found it very inspiring to inspire other 

creative minds and help them realize their 

creative potential. It’s powerful. 

Your work often integrates ethnographic 

styles and indigenous art forms. How do 

you approach incorporating these cultural 

elements respectfully and authentically 

in your art? 

Part of the magic in visiting completely 

different cultures is that you start to see 

patterns and similar elements specific to the 

indigenous core of that culture. The various 

peoples and places, and of course always 

the thread of the natural world in which 

we all inhabit, helps inform and enrich my 

practice and visual language. 

How did you approach the challenge of 

bringing life, breath, and fluidity to rigid 

Carrara marble in your latest work, for 

which you personally obtained blocks 

from a Carrara quarry in Italy? 

The challenges involved in working with 

large-scale, heavy pieces of marble are not 

for the faint-hearted. I travel to Carrara, Italy, 

and go directly to the quarries to collect 

and select my stones. I then transport these 

pieces back to my Spanish studio tucked 

away in the Catalonian hills and begin the 

long and challenging process of transforming 

these inanimate blocks into fluid, luminous, 

poetic forms. I use traditional stone carving 

tools - there is no quick way with marble. 

Can you share insights on your Spirit of 

Hathor sculpture, its concept, inspiration, 

and significance in your body of work? 

I was very excited when I was asked to 

participate in the 2022 Art D’Egypte exhibition 

in front of the Great Pyramids of the Giza 

plateau. I wanted to honor this important 

sacred space, but I also wanted to not stray 

too far away from my DNA as an artist and my 

current body of work. I researched various 

Egyptian deities and connected with Hathor. 

She really represented every woman; she 

was a sky goddess; she was a consort of 

RA and Horus. She had the head of a cow 

and held the sun within her horns which 

would illuminate the great pyramids. I chose 

to use very masculine materials of Corten 

steel and marble and manipulate them in a 

very feminine way to create an abstraction 

of her essence. I think the significance of 

this piece within the journey of my body 

of work was important, the standout being 

the unique opportunity to place one of my 

pieces in front of one of the seven wonders 

of the world. Arguably, the pyramids are the 

most iconic and famous sculptures in the 

world! It was a very humbling experience, 

but I’m very proud of my piece and how it 

all came together. I felt the “Spirit of Hathor” 

smile and shine upon me. 

How do you balance the demands of 

running two studios in different parts of 

the world and juggling various projects 

simultaneously? 

I enjoy the challenge of having two different 

studios in two completely different parts of 

the world - the majestic Teton Mountains and 

the stunning Catalan hills both give me the 

opportunity to be immersed within nature, 

which I love and find complete inspiration 

from both extraordinary settings. I’m lucky. 

A lot of my projects are all over the world, 

so I find myself tapping into my various 

communities and resources depending on 

where the project will end up and organizing 

my schedule and work location based on that. 

How does your artistic practice reflect 

your values and beliefs, such as your 

appreciation for diverse cultures and 

your connection to nature? 

My artistic practice allows me to reflect

on many things and aspects of life, love, 

and the pursuit of happiness! I love people, 

I love diversity, I love the diversity within 

various cultures, and especially within the 

natural world. It’s easy to be fueled as an 

artist and inspired by these connecting 

elements. 

How has your work been received in 

different countries and cultural contexts, 

and have you noticed any differences in 

how it is perceived or interpreted? 

Art, to me, is a universal language. When 

you connect with this divine energy of oneness 

within the universe and translate that into 

physical objects, people, no matter what 

their spoken language is, can relate to that. 

Therein lies the magic, the challenge, and 

the drive to continue exploring this language. 

How do you see your art evolving in the 

future, and are there any new themes or 

mediums you are interested in exploring? 

As I travel the path of my creative and 

sculptural journey, my only desire is to reach 

for a more profound connection with the 

voice within me. To continue to push the 

boundaries within the materials I’m using. 

My latest body of work that I am in the 

process of creating has a working title of 

“The Garden of the Universe”. Still thinking 

about the power of woman and the feminine 

divine, but moving to a space slightly more 

mystical, reaching for the spirits - one hand 

stretched to the divine, the other grounded 

on the earth. I’m excited about this new 

direction. 

How does it feel to have your sculptures 

exhibited at the DIFC Sculpture Park in 

Dubai alongside other prestigious galleries 

and independent artists? What do you 

hope viewers take away from experiencing 

your art in this context? 

I was truly honored to be invited by the 

Leila Heller gallery to exhibit in this year’s 

exhibition. To be included in such a roster 

of world-renowned sculptors and respected 

galleries like Leila Heller is truly a dream. I 

hope that viewers will enjoy my piece, ‘Spirit 

of Hathor,’ as much as I enjoyed creating it.

The exhibition showcases Risham Syed’s artwork titled The Seven Seas (2012), which is a set of large-scale quilts that interweave the 

complexities of contemporary geopolitics with the cotton trade of the British Empire during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Syed sourced 

the fabrics used in her artwork during her travels to Turkey, Bangladesh, the U.A.E, Sri Lanka, U.K., India, and Pakistan. Her quilts depict 20thcentury 

maps of port cities that played a strategic role in the European colonial trade, such as Izmir in Turkey, Kandy in Sri Lanka, Mumbai in 

India, and Ras al-Khaimah in the U.A.E. These cities were not only trade gateways but also sites of resistance and rebellion against imperial 

powers. Syed employs various techniques to create each quilt, including stitching and layering of fabric, which serve to mirror the layering 

of historical and post-colonial narratives. Through her art, Syed explores the location-specific craft of textile production and its significance 

in political resistance.

The Russian artist Wassily Kandinsky is often credited as one of 

the pioneers of abstract art. He believed that art should be a visual 

representation of inner emotions and ideas, rather than a depiction 

of the external world. 

The American artist Jackson Pollock is famous for his “drip paintings,” 

which he created by dripping and splattering paint onto a canvas 

laid on the floor. His abstract expressionist style was influenced by 

the ideas of Kandinsky and other early abstract artists. 

The Swiss-German artist Paul Klee was an important figure in 

the development of abstract art. He once said, “Art does not 

reproduce the visible; rather, it makes visible.” 

The Dutch artist Piet Mondrian was known for his geometric abstract 

paintings, which featured simple shapes and primary colours. He 

believed that art should reflect the universal principles of harmony

The Japanese artist Kazimir Malevich created a series of 

abstract paintings called “Black Square,” which featured a black 

square on a white background. He believed that this painting 

represented the ultimate form of abstraction. 

The Brazilian artist Lygia Clark was part of the Neo-Concrete 

movement, which sought to bridge the gap between abstract art and 

the viewer. She created interactive sculptures that were meant to be 

touched and manipulated by the viewer. 

The American artist Mark Rothko is known for his large, colour field 

paintings that feature two or more rectangles of colour. He believed 

that his paintings could evoke a spiritual experience in the viewer. 

The French artist Yves Klein is best known for his monochromatic 

blue paintings, which he called “International Klein Blue.” He 

believed that this colour represented the infinite and the void.

ARCHITECTURAL WONDERS 

The Shard, also known as the Shard London Bridge and 

formerly known as London Bridge Tower, is a 72-storey 

skyscraper located in London, England. 

It stands at 310 meters tall and is the tallest building in 

the United Kingdom. It was designed by Italian architect 

Renzo Piano and was opened to the public in 2012. The 

building contains office spaces, apartments, restaurants, 

and a hotel. 

The Shard’s distinctive design features a glass facade that 

reflects the surrounding skyline, and the building’s shape 

tapers as it rises, creating a pyramid-like effect. The top 

floors of the building provide panoramic views of London, 

making it a popular tourist attraction. 

In addition to its impressive height and design, The Shard 

is also notable for its sustainable features, including the 

use of recycled materials and rainwater harvesting.

THE ATOMIUM – 

BRUSSELS 

The Atomium is a modernist landmark in Brussels, Belgium, consisting of a giant model of an iron crystal 

lattice structure magnified 165 billion times. 

It was built for the 1958 Brussels World Exposition and stands at a height of 102 meters. The Atomium has nine 

interconnected spheres, each with a diameter of 18 meters, which represent the nine provinces of Belgium. 

Visitors can take a high-speed elevator to the top sphere and enjoy panoramic views of Brussels. The spheres 

also house various exhibitions, including a permanent exhibition about the Atomium’s history and significance, 

as well as temporary exhibitions on art, science, and culture.
