CHAPTER 5: CREATE!ARCHIVE SERVER MANAGEMENT TASKS Archiving External Documents Archiving External Documents . . . . . Create!archive allows you to archive documents from outside the normal workflow. You can archive any printable document to any archive (provided there is a suitable application to open and print it). Note On any computer other than the archive server, you must have the Archiveany component installed in order to archive external documents. See the Technical Note on Configuring Create!archive for information about installing this component. To archive an external document 1 Do one of the following: • In Windows Explorer, right-click the document that you want to archive, and select Send to - Create!archive. • From Create!archive search or Create!archive server, select File - Archive External Document. The Archive External Document screen is displayed. In the Document to Archive field, type the full path of the file you want to archive, or click Browse and select it. 2 In the Archive to use field, select the archive to which you want to send the document. 3 Add a value for the ARC_DOCTYPE1 variable. 4 Add any other variable values as follows: • Click Add. A new row is highlighted. • In the Variable column, select the variable for which you want to add a value. • Place the cursor in the Value column and enter the value of the variable. 5 Use the Delete button to remove any archive values that you don’t want. 6 Click Archive.
