In an intimate evening of comic reflection, reminiscence and
revelation, one of the most noted
comedy writers and directors of
the last few decades looks back
over his more than 40 years in
comedy and 70 (ish!) years on the
planet and tries to answer some
questions.
Recalling stories from his extensive
professional career in comedy, Andy
Hamilton shares memories,
anecdotes and opinions, from the

political to the personal, in just a handful of selected dates this
summer. Audiences will also have the opportunity to ask Andy
questions on any topic, so one show will never be the same as
another!
Beginning in 1976 as a contributor to Radio 4’s Weekending, Andy
went on to pick up a raft of awards for co-writing and co-directing
such household TV classics as Drop The Dead Donkey and
Outnumbered.
In addition, Andy’s numerous TV and radio credits include Have I
Got News For You, QI, Andy Hamilton Sort of Remembers, The

Turns 20!
The Lichfield Garrick Theatre is
inviting patrons old and new to
recall their memories of the theatre
as part of plans to mark the venue’s
20th anniversary this summer.
The theatre and arts charity is

one of Lichfield’s leading
entertainment and cultural destinations, and wants to celebrate the role
that so many local people have played in its success over the years. It’d
love to hear your fondest, funniest, proudest stories of visiting the
Garrick, whether that’s watching a particular show, performing on one
of the stages, taking part in a workshop, or perhaps meeting a friend or
loved one for the first time. Just drop the Garrick an email, send an
image (family photos or selfies welcome!), or lend it a programme, and
the team will include it in an exhibition created to tell the story of the
theatre’s first twenty years.
The Garrick will be kicking off its anniversary year with an ‘open
house’ event on Saturday 1st July, where residents will be welcome to
visit the venue, meet the team and enjoy a host of free activities,
including behind-the-scenes tours, lighting and sound demonstrations,
performances by community groups, workshops, and an archive display
of Garrick memorabilia. Local historian, Jono Oates, will also be on hand
to answer historical questions and showcase the theatre’s original
architectural drawings. Plus, there will be 20 chances during the day to
win tickets for this year’s pantomime, Beauty & the Beast.

The theatre will also be launching Garrick 20 on Saturday 1st July, a
year-long project opening the Garrick to Lichfield’s many different
communities – with an ambition to help 20 local groups and artists to
realise a creative ambition, to offer 20 training placements for young
people, and to take creative opportunities into 20 schools. Watch out for
an open callout, coming very soon.
