Dd efining moments. How do we define the moments that contribute to a<br />
successful school year at <strong>Newark</strong> <strong>Academy</strong>? What makes an ordinary year exceptional or an exceptional<br />
year extraordinary?<br />
Perhaps it is when a human rights leader visits the school and shares his unforgettably moving story<br />
as a survivor of the Khmer Rouge Killing Fields in Cambodia. It might be when a community joins<br />
together to climb a mountain, counting each step on a symbolic journey from <strong>Newark</strong> <strong>Academy</strong> to<br />
Mt. Everest in honor of a lost friend’s dream. Or maybe it is when a beloved faculty member celebrates<br />
50 years of teaching, guiding and nurturing students; or the Minuteman wrestling team pins down the<br />
Essex County championship; or the cast of Bye Bye Birdie takes its final bow to thunderous applause.<br />
The following Report on Giving is created for, and dedicated to, you and the hundreds of donors<br />
that are committed to sustaining the unique educational experience that is <strong>Newark</strong> <strong>Academy</strong>. Given<br />
the extraordinary generosity demonstrated by our donors, a report based solely on <strong>Newark</strong> <strong>Academy</strong>’s<br />
financial health would be inadequate. The other half of the 2008-09 NA story unfolded, as it always<br />
does, in the moments when your generosity came to life. These extraordinary moments truly define<br />
<strong>Newark</strong> <strong>Academy</strong>. Please know that the entire NA community is deeply grateful for each and every<br />
gift that made these moments possible.<br />
