<strong>Streeterville</strong>’s business environment<br />

area. Detailed below are six streets you<br />
need to know as a member or visitor of<br />
this community.<br />
CHiCAGO AvENUE<br />
Nordstrom Rack and Anthropologie<br />
recently joined <strong>Streeterville</strong> with new<br />
locations on East Chicago Avenue.<br />
Nordstrom Rack, which features<br />
discounted clothing from Nordstrom,<br />
and Anthropologie, which features oneof-a-kind<br />
women’s clothing, add spice to<br />
the local retail mix.<br />
Chicago Avenue also houses the Museum<br />
of Contemporary Art, 220 E. Chicago<br />
Ave., which has offered exhibitions of<br />
the most thought-provoking art since<br />
1945. The museum includes a gift store,<br />
bookstore, restaurant, 300-seat theater<br />
and a terraced sculpture garden.<br />

On your way to the museum, stop to look<br />
at the Chicago Fire Dept. Engine Co. 98<br />
at 202 E. Chicago Ave. This historical<br />
building was built in 1904 and remains<br />
a working firehouse today.<br />
PEArSON STrEET<br />
Pearson Street offers a wide variety of<br />
different retailers, businesses, schools<br />
and libraries packed into one small street.<br />
The Water Tower Water Works building,<br />
163 E. Pearson St., is home to the Visitor<br />
Information Center, First Slice Pie Café,<br />
a Hot Tix outpost and a small division of<br />
the Chicago Public Library.<br />
Across Michigan Avenue stands the Old<br />
Water Tower, which was once considered<br />
the tallest building in Chicago. It was<br />
built in 1869 with limestone from Joliet,<br />
Illinois. A survivor of the Great Chicago<br />
Fire of 1871, the Old Water Tower is an<br />
iconic monument that defines Chicago.<br />
Pearson Street is also the home of Loyola<br />
university’s Water Tower Campus. This<br />
campus includes the Graduate and<br />
undergraduate School of Business, the<br />
School of Continuing and Professional<br />
Studies, the School of Law, the School<br />
of Social Work and the School of<br />
Communication.<br />
OAk STrEET<br />
A world-class destination, Oak Street<br />
prides itself on exclusive luxury<br />
boutiques and shops. Known for its<br />
historical brownstones and intimate<br />
scale, Oak Street has become an<br />
international style center. It features<br />
retailers like Barney’s New York, Jimmy<br />
Choo, David Yurman, Prada, Kate Spade,<br />
Vera Wang, Hermes and Yves Saint<br />
Laurent Rive Gauche.<br />
During the summer season, the Oak Street<br />
Beach stands as one of Chicago’s favorite<br />
beach destinations. A real urban oasis,<br />
visitors can enjoy a number of different<br />
activities including swimming, playing<br />
volleyball, running and sunbathing.
