JEROME
The city in the sky
Jerome was at one time the most talked about wild west mining
camp in America - it’s now listed on the National Historic Register.
Its population went from 15,000 in its heyday, to a “ghost
town” of under 50 people, to its role today as a center for the
arts with unique shops, sophisticated galleries, wineries,
tasting rooms, bistros, hotels and B&Bs - with just under
500 permanent residents. Jerome’s scenic view of the
entire Verde Valley offers wonderful photographic
opportunities.
Explore
u Book a fun and informative Haunted or Historical tour and hear the
hiking, biking, camping and more.
Dine
Whether you’re in the mood for steak, Mexican fare, a burger, BBQ,
or breakfast, Jerome’s mostly quirky restaurants will make your
stomach smile. For instance, in a hospital-turned-hotel (Jerome
Grand Hotel), the upscale Asylum Restaurant pairs American &
Southwestern fare with scenic views. Or, located in Arizona’s oldest
operating restaurant building (the English Kitchen, 1899), Bobby
D’s BBQ serves up slow-smoked entrees and fresh salads that
you’ll likely enjoy as much as the atmosphere.
