CLACHURCH.COMGLOBAL LEADERSHIPSUMMITBY DERRICK HAMRE, LEAD PASTORAs we approach our third year of hosting the Global Leadership Summit (GLS)here at CLA, we are reminded that we host this grand event because it provides anopportunity for God to speak encouragement and strategy to our leaders. Everyperson has influence. We have influence in our homes, neighbourhoods, schools,work place and in our church. Influence is at the core of leadership.The Leadership Development Institute at Power to Change Ministries has beensending their leaders to the GLS for years. When asked about their experience andwhy they continue to attend year after year, this is what they had to share:“Everything rises and falls on Leadership” – John C. Maxwell. Global LeadershipSummit gives our leaders opportunities to improve the skills fromleading themselves, to leading others so that they can continue to improve.Throughout the last few years, GLS has provided the platform and invitedworld-class leaders to share their experiences. Many of our staff have hadthe chance to break from a day to day routine and focus on the health of theorganization, their teams and themselves. Each GLS speaker brought newideas, perspective and inspirational stories to open the horizon on leadershipdevelopment. One of our leaders shared, “Being in a leadership role foryears and years, I asked myself, ‘what can I learn?’ and then I went to GLSlast year and it changed —it changed how I lead and how I serve people —gaining skills from how to execute a strategy by Chris McChesney to DanielleStrickland reminding us that leaders are called to use their influence tobring peace to a desperate world. HUGE impact!”The Global Leadership Summit reaches leaders in church, businesses, schools,governments and the arts. The GLS helps leverage your influence to improve yourworld. Your influence matters. It brings transformation to your surroundings. Itbrings glory to God. Jesus talked about our influence when he said, “You are thesalt of the earth. You are the light of the world.”25
