WELCOME
Happy New Year! As we enter the early days of the next 365 there is anticipation
and hope. The hope is rooted in Jesus Christ. He is with us through the Spirit. His
plans will not be thwarted, He has dominion and authority over our lives. “For I
know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not
for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11. Therefore, we can
anticipate some exciting days ahead for our lives, church and nation. Indeed, the
world will experience the grace of God in 2018 and CLA will get to participate in its
distribution. May your faith and participation be strong!
Welcome to edition #2 of our CLA Connecting Points magazine. In September,
the first edition was very well received. This new publication will inspire you. You
will read personal stories, be informed about ways to join with the mission of CLA
and see new avenues to connect. Once again, our communications team has done
a great job illustrating life at CLA. A special focus of this edition will be our writing
on prayer, stewardship and missions. Similar to last semester, you will see good information
about Connecting Points, the pastoral staff, and Alpha. Because we are a
family on a mission, this information is very important to share. I pray the magazine
will help you understand your church family better and share in its mandate even
deeper. Come join us for a wonderful winter semester!
Remember, we are “Joining God in transforming our lives, neighbourhoods, nation
and world”. We are going to do this through:
1. Gathering
2. Growing
3. Serving

Gather
because of Christ’s resurrection.
Christianity cannot be lived in isolation. We gather because it unites our hearts in one
common belief in Jesus Christ. As we celebrate together, we sing, pray, hear God’s Word
and regularly participate in the Lord’s Supper and baptism as instructed in the New Testament.
We meet to encourage each other to live out our faith as we are sent out.
Grow
because of Christ in us.
The Bible tells us in Colossians 1:27 that Christ in you is the hope of glory! How could
we not be transformed when God lives in us? As we grow in our awareness of God’s
presence in and through us, our lives reflect Him in even greater ways. We’re all called
to growth, and growth happens best together.
Serve
because of Christ’s sacrifice.
Christ’s own sacrifice compels us to get out of our own story and into the story of
others. Jesus calls us to serve and not sit, to sacrifice our personal time, gifts and resources
to see others transformed by the gospel. We lead and are not just led, we feed
and are not just fed. We find meaning and purpose in choosing to serve.
Go
because of Christ’s love.
We are compelled to reach out because of Christ’s love within us. At the heart of a
missional church is the desire to bring Christ into our sphere of influence, to be the salt
of the earth and a light on a hill. Yet, it does not stop there. CLA has a special call to
our nation and world. We pray, we love, we give, we represent Christ here and globally.

SUNDAYS
Why do we gather?
Each week we gather as a Church, to grow closer to God through great teaching, to focus our hearts through worship on the
God who gives us life. We grow together as a community as we are challenged to serve our community, our city, our country,
our world. We are united in seeking God and serving together.
What should I expect?
Our services usually last about 90 minutes. They include music, an opportunity for prayer, and 30-35 minutes of relevant, Bible-based
teaching. From the time you enter the parking lot, signs will clearly mark the way to our main auditorium. Once in
the building, visit the Guest Services desk and we will help you find a seat and answer any questions you may have. We want
to serve you.
WELCOME TO CHURCH PARTY
A great place to meet people, meet key leaders, and see
what life in our church looks like. Look for the next Welcome
to Church Party at clachurch.com/community
We would love to have you join us for lunch.
DISCOVERY
Three times a year (fall, winter and spring) Pastor Derrick
and Sara-Lee host and lead the Discovery Class. The course
is an opportunity to meet new people, get to know the
Hamres and to hear about God’s unique call for CLA. Those
who attend are often new to our church or checking out
CLA to see if it is where God wants them to be. However,
each semester, there are also people who have been at CLA
for many years and simply want to be better acquainted
with their pastor and/or to connect with new people. It’s a
perfect refresher to remind people of our mission and values.
It is a wonderful environment. Each week an amazing
dessert is shared along with coffee and tea. The informal
setting is perfect for a relational orientation to Christian Life
Assembly. Discovery Class is a prerequisite for membership.
It is a place to take your spiritual gifts test and learn
how God has made you to be a blessing to His Church. It
is a 6-week course. Go to clachurch.com/community to see
LIFE GROUPS
Life Groups are the best way for anyone in CLA to connect,
grow and go deeper into a life that brings impact to our
world. We have a variety of groups that meet all around
the Lower Mainland at different times throughout the week.
Each of our groups are unique, but all are focused on cultivating
real community, growing spiritually and reaching out
in some way. Weather you’d like to find a group that fits for
you, or would be interested in helping host or lead a group,
we’d love to hear from you so we can help!

CLA KIDS
CLA Kids desires to teach children (Birth to Grade 5) about
the love of God using dynamic and fun methods. We gather
on Sunday mornings and in special events throughout the
year to learn about God, grow as disciples of Jesus and have
fun together. We want each child to have Bible knowledge
but also a personal experience with God that grows as they
grow. Our goal is to support families, giving them the tools
and encouragement they need to take the lead in this incredibly
important ministry. If you’d like to take part as a volunteer
in CLA Kids, please come visit us at the Tree House in the
back foyer; we’ll get you started.
CLA BUS MINISTRY
Bus Ministry serves our community by helping children encounter
the hope and love of Christ through weekly outreach
programs such as “Super Saturday Kids Klub” (ages
4-12), “ConnXion” (ages 10-14), and Impact Youth Discipleship
program (ages 13 to 18+). We are investing personally
in the lives of the children we serve through consistent oneon-one
relationships, weekly home visits, summer camps,
and personal mentorship. Our goal is to connect them to
CLA life, disciple them, and raise them up as leaders.

2018 PRAYER PRIORITY
BY MIKE BIDELL
“Lord, teach us to pray”
When a new year begins we often think about things like health, fitness, hopes,
goals and priorities of all kinds. Where does prayer fit into that for you? When you
think of prayer, do you hope for it to grow in your life? Do you hope for more delight
in prayer, more results because of prayer? It’s no surprise that real transformation
is almost always linked to prayer! And it is not hard to imagine how, as we each
prioritize and grow in prayer personally and together as a church, we accelerate the
pace at which we move into the transformation God has in His heart for our lives,
neighbourhoods, nation and world.
In Luke 11, one of Jesus’ disciples says, “Lord, teach us to pray.” And while he
may have been hoping to develop personally in prayer, he didn’t say “teach me to
pray,” he said, “teach us to pray.”
Why? Because prayer isn’t just personal. It is something we are called to grow
in together as well.
While many of our ministries have their own important and unique times for
prayer, we want to see the priority of praying together—as a whole church, all generations
collectively—burst into greater life in 2018! So we’re asking everyone to engage
in two ways this year: The “Week of Prayer & Worship,” and our new monthly
Prayer & Worship gathering. Both will include times of worship and feature guided
times of prayer for specific needs and opportunities.
So, can I invite you to come and try this? Let’s learn together!

MONEY MATTERS
BY DERRICK HAMRE, LEAD PASTOR
What is the first thing you think about
when you hear the word ‘money’?
As I examine my life, I ask myself, “Where did I get my attitudes
towards money?” I was raised in a single parent
home. For me, my mom’s teaching and example as well as
the home values influenced me more than anything else.
Much has been built upon that but I’m amazed how early
my understanding of money began.
Why do you think Jesus talks so much about money? He
taught about stewardship more than almost any other topic.
He exhorted us, “Don’t store up treasures here on earth,
where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where
thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven,
where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not
break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires
of your heart will also be” (Matthew 6:19-21). Jesus realized
that there was a significant connection between giving
and the health of one’s soul. Giving is deeply spiritual.
He seemed to understand that money could draw us closer
to God or cause us to move away from him. We want to get
ahold of money, but money wants to get ahold of us.
It’s important that we realize that money has deep influence
both in the world and the human heart. It is a powerful
good, but also has power to corrupt. It can release a person
into a deeply spiritual life of Kingdom partnership or repeal
them towards a life of selfish pursuit. Nothing will prove
Lordship faster or clearer than money. Money matters. We
need to remember these four things:
partner with Him in living His way, “He opens the windows
of heaven to pour out a blessing” (Malachi 3:10).
2. Money is a Sacrament. A sacrament can be defined as
a grace from God to help us. It is a mix of spiritual &
human realities coming together. Sacraments remind
us of spiritual truths, they are both holy and practical.
As marriage or baptism are sacramental, so too is
money. By God’s grace we receive and give.
3. Money is a Temptation. Temptation is not sin, it is
the lie to use or abuse God’s gifts. When do we have
enough? Consumption is the drive to satisfy. Money
can change people. It can change the way we view
people. Hidden longings can lead to greed, one of the
7 deadly sins. There is potential for money to become
an idol, for its value and priority to rise above our loyalty
and Lordship to Christ.
4. Money has Powers (for good or for evil). – created by
God and for God (Colossians 1) Yet power corrupts.
Christ, by his cross disarms the powers. Money is like

a power over our hearts. What we worship we become.
That’s why there is a command to worship only God.

God, limit our faith, and can create pride. It also
has power to release benevolence, Godly compassion

WHEN RECOVERY CHURCH CALLS
BY KERI VERMEULEN
When he first felt drawn to Recovery Church and its ministry
to love and serve people coming out of addiction, it was
shortly after Glenn Dumontel attended a CLA men’s retreat
last year. At the retreat, he noticed a group of men from a
residential recovery program sitting together at a table, and
felt the inclination to join them.
“I went out my way to go and sit at their table, and ask
them to tell me their stories. I think it encouraged them, but
it really encouraged me,” shares Glenn, a 30-year Christian
who now makes a point of connecting with men in addictions
recovery when he can, including attending Recovery
Church, the Sunday night service at CLA.
“There’s something very unusual that happens to me
when I walk into Recovery Church,” explains Glenn. “It’s
very raw, very real, very natural. It’s not ‘church-like’. You
just come as you are. It makes me feel really comfortable.
Sometimes you can’t find words for why you’re drawn to
certain areas, you just do it.”
The draw that Glenn, and other ‘regular’ morning church
folks are feeling to plug in to Recovery Church is happening
more and more, shares one of RC’s pastors, Jason Roberts.
“There seems to be a momentum of church people coming,”
says Jason, who co-leads Recovery Church with pastors Doug
Frederick and Kevin Bralovich. “There is a call to regular church
people to get involved. It could be as simple as coming and
seeing that service as a prayer meeting. People who know the
Lord and understand His kingdom are needed in the room.”
A long time CLA member and follower of Jesus, Ruth
Johnson began attending Recovery Church in its first days
back in 2009, and has been attending ever since. There was
a combination of things that attracted her to the service.
Similar to Glenn, Ruth says the messages and the people at
RC are a little bit raw, and very real. “I’m drawn to that ‘tell it
like it is’ type of community. There’s a need for relationship
with people who are in recovery. When you get down to
taking the labels off, the ‘normy’ and the ‘recovery’ labels,
it’s just people there. We all have stuff, it’s just different stuff
and we’re all at different stages.”
In addition to joining the prayer team at the altar, Ruth
will often observe what is going on in the room, and pray
quietly from her seat. She’s also been known pray on the
spot with recovery folks who are sharing their lives with her.
“Prayer is the key to change, and it’s prayer that is behind
any progress,” says Ruth. “Everybody can pray, no matter
what our status is or isn’t. It’s the biggest weapon we have,
it’s the most beneficial thing.”
Ruth has built many relationships with people at Recovery
Church over the years. She says the way to do that is
quite simple. “Just be a listening ear to someone,” she says.
“Lots of people there are quick to share. I start with a simple
question like ‘so, what’s your story?’ You don’t even have to
prompt too much.”
That’s what Glenn found that day when he first reached
out to a table of men in recovery last year, and even now,
when he chats with people at Recovery Church. “They love
sharing their stories. And I love hearing what God is doing
in people’s lives,” shares Glenn. “I come to Recovery Church
to be blessed and to bless others, if I can. I just come and
talk with the people there, and encourage them. It’s good
for them to see that some of us are coming in support of
them, and in line with them.”
Maybe you feel the call to check out Recovery Church.
Come, check it out! Service is every Sunday, at 6 pm in the
CLA Auditorium. The service is aimed at helping people
who are stuck in addiction find freedom, and those who are
coming out of it to walk out a new life in Christ. Since 2009,
Recovery Church has been a place of healing, growing and
connecting with others. All are welcome.

TRANSFORMATION WEEKENDS
BY MIKE BIDELL
God’s Love | The Cross | Forgiveness
Healing | Freedom | Holy Spirit
In our journeys of faith there are moments, experiences, that
God brings us to and through that can change our lives forever.
As a church, we’re learning to “join God in transforming
our lives…” God’s dream for your life is for ever-growing
and ongoing freedom, wholeness, and empowerment to
abound. Do you believe this? Do you have anything on your
calendar this year in order to join God in this?
The new CLA Transformation Weekends (TW) are designed
to be a two-day journey of encountering the love of
the Father, the cross of Christ and the anointing of the Holy
Spirit. And they’re meant for everyone.
In John 11, after Lazarus was raised from the dead Jesus
said to those standing nearby, “Take off his grave clothes
and let him go.” Jesus’ words here represent the kind of
work that He wants to see everyone experience. Already
raised to new life in Christ, the Transformation Weekend
serves to address and remove our grave clothes –reminders
and hindrances from the past– liberating us into new freedom.
Why? So we, like Lazarus, can go. One of the beautiful
by-products of real love, truth, forgiveness, healing and
Spirit-encounter, is increased desire and empowerment for
a life that “goes” (Matt 28.19). A life where God’s presence

REVOLUTION
BY PETER YOON, YOUTH PASTOR
In the month of December, our youth staff had an all-day
retreat to: pray, evaluate our current activity as a youth ministry,
and dream for a better reality.
We started the day with prayer. Prayer for ourselves, our
leaders, our students, our church, and our city. And as we
were asking God for wisdom, I felt a conviction to remember
the faces and names of those in our ministry. It was a
timely reminder of the implications, importance, and impact
that the decisions we make have on the lives of those in our
ministry. So even as I write this, know that I’m thinking of the
faces and names of our leaders, students, and their families.
On that day we began with an exercise that had us dreaming
about what kind of people we wanted our students to
be in 20 years. Who were they becoming? What were they
doing? And where were they headed? It described a preferred
future for the year 2037; and the type of people we
wanted coming out of our youth ministry. From there, we
worked backwards, asking what our youth ministry would
need to be doing 10 years from now (in 2027), in order to
ensure that our strategies were directly influenced by our
goals. Lastly, we began to have conversations about how
our 2018 priorities needed to reflect these values.
24
CLACHURCH.COM
And after careful deliberation, we concluded that the 3 priorities
that needed our most immediate attention and action
for this upcoming year were:
leaders find the most sincere opportunities to share memories,
laughs, and “gospel moments” with our students. Discipleship
isn’t provided through an event, oriented youth
ministry, but an “everyday” driven vision that is fuelled by
1. The better development, training, and care of our leaders.
2. An intentional focus on small group/life-on-life community
and discipleship.
3. And, further partnership/integration of parents and
families in the life of our youth ministry.
healthy small group/life-on-life contexts. So, while we are
still committed to providing excellent Tuesday night youth
services that give way to “the best” teaching, environment,
and pastoral care for our students; in the year 2018, we are
giving intentional focus to providing more small group/lifeon-life
moments.
First, the better development, training, and care of our
leaders. Our heart is to provide “the best” for our students.
The best teaching, the best environments, and the best pastoral
care…and we can’t do that without having the best
youth leaders. It is impossible and unbiblical to think that
our staff could provide for the effective discipleship of the
200+ students in our ministry. We believe that the mandate
and responsibility given to us is to develop, train, and care
for our leaders that are effectively carrying out our mission.
So in 2018 our heart is to continue to give OUR best
to them! (Please thank and pray for our team - they do so
much for our students!)
Second, an intentional focus on small group/life-on-life
community and discipleship. Throughout the gospels, Jesus
teaches and exemplifies effective discipleship through the
context of small groups. In His ministry, His disciples were
those that He gives the most amount of energy, time, and
dedication to. Why? Because true discipleship cannot be
facilitated without a small group of people giving consent
to a constant, consistent, and committed relationship that
is centred around “doing life” with one another. It is in the
grittiness of life, and the details of the everyday that our
Third, the further partnership of parents and families in
the life of our youth ministry. We believe that youth ministry
isn’t an opportunity for parents and families to shift
the ownership and responsibilities of the spiritual formation
of young people to the church. Rather we believe that
we need to be committed to working alongside families to
disciple their kids, and be the best resource to the parents
of our students! Essentially we want to say, “we’re on your
team!” And we feel that in order to be the best “teammate”
we can be, we need to better integrate parents and families
into our strategy. We want to invite parents into the conversation,
as well as provide training in areas we all find quite
intimidating. So in 2018, you can expect us to raise the level
of engagement through: communication, training, involvement,
and resourcing.
Our hearts are full and expectant for 2018. We believe
that God is leading our church and youth ministry, and that
we need only to be obedient and faithful. We are thankful
for a church that continues to fight for, and believe in the
next generation!
With much love,
Peter Yoon & the REV team.

CLA KIDS
BY BRITTANY ROE
I recently had the opportunity to sit
down with Kerri Anderson—a teacher,
mom, and faithful CLA Kids volunteer—
to talk about family and instilling a passion
to serve within families here at CLA.
Within just a few minutes, her passion and vision to see her own family serve together
within the CLA community is evident. Kerri, Jeff and their kids Elise (11) and
Carsten (9) are regular volunteers with CLA Kids, and their daughter Kinley (5) an
excited attendee.
Kerri has been serving at CLA since arriving 8 years ago. “I love kids - and have
always loved kids,” she says. “As soon as we started attending here, Jeff and I knew
we were going to serve. As a parent, I believe we have a responsibility to understand
what our kids are learning, and get involved in serving. It’s an ideal way to get
to know your kid’s friends, and the community they are growing up within!”
One morning on the drive to CLA, Kerri asked the kids if they knew “why” they volunteer
together. Carsten thought it had lots to do with being fun, and a great opportunity
to hang out with his dad. I asked Kerri if Carsten ever expressed disappointment in
missing his own class when it was his turn to volunteer, but it was clear that for Carsten,
serving alongside his dad was just as important as going to Sunday school himself.
Elise, helps with toddler classes and said that she serves on Sundays because
when she attends Rev (CLA’s Youth Ministry) there are other people serving her, so
this is her chance to serve other people.
“It’s a really nice way to meet the people who are a part of our church family”
said Kerri, “and it also gives us purpose as a family to do it together.”
“We just want our kids to know that this is what you do. You don’t just go to
church, you become a part of the culture and the community – so it’s important that
we each find an opportunity to serve. We want our kids to learn that the Anderson
family won’t just come and leave. We want them to understand that it’s a commitment.
That if you are scheduled you show up. It teaches responsibility.”

One of the strongly held values of the CLA Kids Ministry is that it takes a village to
raise a child. The leaders and volunteers show up because they love what they do,
and believe in supporting parents and families in a spiritual journey. They envision
a ministry that sees little ones taking the next steps in their faith and that support
parents as spiritual leaders of their families.
THERE ARE 5 KEY VALUES THAT
WE BELIEVE AT CLA KIDS:
1. We believe in discipleship. The Bible was and continues to be the greatest book
ever written! We want your children to know and love God’s word and understand
the value of applying it in their lives. We want them to be able to discern God’s
voice, obey Him, and live a victorious life through the power of the Holy Spirit.
2. We believe that your child should be discipled in a fun, engaging, and age-appropriate
environment. We understand that kids love fun, and we want to bring the
Bible to life in a way that they can understand.
3. We seek to create an environment that is full of love and encouragement for every
child. Our leaders seek intentional opportunities to encourage, build-up, affirm and
support children both in their relationship with the Lord and in their identity in Christ.
4. We want to ensure the safety and security of every child that attends or participates
in CLA Kids programs or events. Our teachers and volunteers have been
selected, screened, and trained so that your family receives the best care possible.
5. We want to come alongside parents and caregivers to support, encourage and
equip them as the primary spiritual leaders in their children’s lives. We want to provide
opportunities for families to experience Jesus together through a variety of
programs, events, resources and serving opportunities.

PURE & TRUE LOVE
BY KIM TRAN
“Today is your day. You’re off to Great
Places! You’re off and away!”– Dr. Seuss
Every time I read this first line in the book, Oh the Places You Will Go, I get excited
because I already know all the adventure that the upcoming pages hold! And yet,
every time I fasten my seatbelt on an airplane, these lines run through my mind as I
realize life is such an exciting adventure because I don’t yet know what is to come.
On November 10th, at a very early hour in the morning, the sound of my seatbelt
snapping into place gave way to the excitement bubbling inside and I was
ready to be off and away, this time to Guatemala. I, along with seven other women
from CLA and my 10 year old daughter, made up this year’s Guatemala Women’s
team to the Shadow of His Wings Orphanage. We were ready for God to use us. I
was so excited for my daughter to see God show His compassionate heart for His
world and open her eyes to opportunities for her to serve Him. What I wasn’t prepared
for was how God would break my heart.
You see, I have been blessed to experience different parts of this marvelous
world that God spoke into being. I have done short-term missions and had the opportunity
to live abroad. So often in those times, I got to be Jesus’ hands and feet
to those who were hurting, broken and lost. But rarely have I had the chance to
witness pure and unconditional love.
I experienced this love on the night of the Quinceañera—a birthday celebration
that embraces religious customs, the virtues of family and social responsibility. It is
a tradition that celebrates a young girl turning 15 and recognizes her journey from
childhood to maturity. The customs incorporate God, family, friends, music and food.
For several years now, the CLA Women’s team has had the privilege of hosting
this celebration for all the girls that turn 15 that year at the Project (Shadow of His
Wings). This year, five girls turned 15, and our team worked gleefully and tirelessly
setting up tables, a photo booth, baking cupcakes and cake, hoping to create a
space and ambience that would celebrate the girls and their families at the Project.
As the evening began, we settled into our seats with great anticipation. The air
was abuzz with energy and excitement. Then, the procession began. Every girl, beautifully
adorned from head to toe, escorted down the aisle by her father and mother to
a seat where she would receive a new pair of shoes from her mother and a tiara from
her father. As I watched each girl, I also watched the parents, from the procession
to each step of the ceremony. Some were beaming with pride for their daughter;

others had tears of joy brimming their eyes. It struck me;
the love these parents had for each of their girls was so
genuine. In those moments, I couldn’t tell if these parents
had given birth to their child 15 years ago, or had only been
fostering them for six months. Neither criterion mattered
in this moment. Love was love, and the love of a parent for
their daughter was undeniable.
Since 2002, Shadow of His Wings orphanage has been a
safe place for children to come to, having endured some traumatic
and horrendous experiences. By God’s grace, five Guatemalan
couples have answered His call and live at the Project
as foster parents to these children. CLA has been partnering
with and walking alongside the Project since 2009.
As I walked around the compound, God broke my heart
in a new way. This time it wasn’t for the desperate mother,
the orphaned child or the homeless man. It was broken so
this operation. It gave meaning to our short time there, because
we were there as part of a church that has had a long
and rewarding relationship with this organization.
Throughout the week, we also had the opportunity to
share God’s love and blessing to the surrounding community.
We visited families and villages who are hurting, and
were able to bless them with food baskets and conduct
VBS for the kids. The whole experience was powerful as we
were able to pray for them, and they, in turn, for us.
As I reflect on my week there, I realize that God broke
my heart to show me that there is always love, joy and hope,
and He is reaching out to all the corners of His earth. I think
my daughter summarized it best: “visiting the homes reminded
me how blessed we are here in Canada. We have
so much. But it also reminded me that we have so much to
share and we can always bless others.”
that it could be filled up with joy and love and peace. I witnessed
hope come alive and unconditional love at the Project,
and its source is God flowing through the people; His
people. Everyone obedient to His calling. Our team being
there for a week was also an example of people answering
His call to come and love these children and to celebrate
His work in the lives of not just the children, but the house
parents, the missionaries and the support workers. All this,
because, ‘it takes a village to raise a child’.
CLA has been part of this ‘village’ and it was really exciting
to see how God has used this church over the years
to help build, renovate and equip in so many varied areas of
Shadow of His Wings projects funded by CLA:
• Multi-purpose amenity building
• Construction of Liberty School
– Computer Lab
– New entry gate to school
• Daycare/Medical building
• Tortilla maker
• Solar panels (Phase 1 & 2)
• Water tower
• Irrigation system

YOUNG ADULTS
BY JEREMY KING, YOUNG ADULTS PASTOR
called Creative Minority. The series will focus on six aspects
of what it looks like be a Christian, creative minority that
embodies a radical dissimilarity from the world and that
holds out a hopeful promise to the world. Ultimately, this
is what we want to see: a group of young people living in
response to Christ, who are known for living differently and
for the message that they carry.
In many ways, we feel like we’re just getting started, but
we’re so encouraged by how people are collectively convicted
about seeing a community like this form. We would
love for you to come join us on a Thursday Night at 7:30 pm,
as we continue to journey towards seeing a healthy community
that both serves the church body and points the
world to see Jesus as Saviour and Lord.
The fall semester of ministry was unlike any other that I’ve
been a part of. God has been humbling, saving, healing, restoring,
encouraging and empowering those that have been
gathering on Thursday nights!
Our community is growing in depth, in commitment to the
local church and in vision for what God wants to do in our city.
Groups of guys and girls are gathering in coffee shops to read,
talk and pray for each other. A few young adults who have
come to Christ recently will be getting baptized on Sunday,
January 21st and we’re excited to celebrate together at both
the 9 and 11 am services on that day. Four new Alphas are running
in homes and on campuses January through April, and
our goal is to see 25 unchurched people experience Alpha.
Our weekly gathering has moved to the newly renovated
conference hall and we launch a new series January 18th
