Mapping the City - A creative approach on Brasov

During an entire week product design students from Transilvania University, and people from various institutions from Braşov of different ages explored their city from different perspectives. The participants developed themes and concepts referring to their city, based on social issues, personal experiences and its visual language. Design thinking and design skills were used as an approach and method to explore, analyze, visualize and re(act) on the city life and its inhabitants. The participants, sensitized to their social and cultural environment, were encouraged to take an active and responsible role towards a complex urban environment. The outcome of this week’s project is a vivid and dynamic interpretation of contemporary urban life. Next to the magazine the participants presented and discussed the results with the local audience. Braşov/Kronstadt is a city in Transylvania, Romania, with a population of around 253.000 inhabitans. It is located some 166 km north of Bucharest.
