Masters
One of the largest classes for the day was the
Masters, with a 13-rider strong presence. Jaco
Gous took Pole Position on his Suzuki with a
1.52.310 lap time ahead of the ever-impressive
Bradley Dawson on his BMW S1000RR in second,
John Krige in third on his Suzuki. Tyron Piper
put his BMW into fourth on the grid and is slowly
getting back to the times and positions he is
accustomed to after a couple of troubled years.
Leon Horn took fifth ahead of Sfiso Themba who
normally races in the Sunbets ZX10 Class in
sixth, Derek Jacobs in seventh, Augustin Ntwari in
eighth, Robert Ferreira in ninth, Jacques Schutte
in tenth, Mornay Jonker in eleventh, Tim Green in
twelfth and Wayne Morgan rounding out the grid
in thirteenth.
Race 1 and it was Gous who got the best start
and used his early advantage to gap the field and
take the victory by over 6 seconds. The battle for
second was hotly contested and taken on the
last corner by Krige who edged out Dawson for
second. Piper had a great ride to fourth ahead of
Horn, Themba, Ferreira, Jacobs, Ntwari, Schutte,
Jonker, Green, and Morgan in last and thirteenth
place.
Race 2 saw the race get red flagged after only a
couple of laps after a crash by Siphiwe Tom on his
Ducati who was racing in the BOTTS class which
was combined with the Masters for the days
racing. It was a much closer affair up front after
the restart but Gous once again took victory after
a long battle with Dawson who took second and
Krige in third. Piper took fourth ahead of Themba,
Horn, Jacobs, Ferreira, Ntwari, Green, Jonker,
Morgan, and Schutte with an issue, 1 lap down in
thirteenth.
BOTTS
As he gets older, he seems to just get quicker, and
taking Pole Position in the BOTTs with a lap time
of a 1.54.7 went to Peter Bosch. Mick Landi took
second place on the grid on his return to racing
ahead of Alan Hulscher, Frans Fourie, Kaz Hauzer,
Gavin Aab, Jaco Hennings, Desmond Acutt, and
Siphiwe Tom rounding out the nine-rider grid.
Race 1 was decided over the line by less than
two-tenths of a second with eventual winner
Bosch just edging out Hulscher. Landi took third
on his return ahead of Fourie, Hauzer, Aab, Acutt,
Hennings, and Tom.
Race 2 was red-flagged due to Sipiwe Tom
crashing out at the esses. After the race was
restarted it was Landi who took top honors ahead
of Bosch, Fourie, Hulscher, Hauzer, Aab, Acutt,
Hennings, and Tom, 5 laps down after his crash.
