CONTRIBUTORS Q & A
MOSHE LAPIDOTH
DERMATOLOGIST - ISR AEL
Q: HOW DOES IMCAS IMPACT YOUR DAILY
PR ACTICE AND INSPIRE YOU ?
A: IMCAS brings together experts with vast experiences
and different perspectives. When they
share this, we are forced to look at things with a
different view than in our daily practice. We may
agree, or we may disagree, but in the process
of thinking about it we gain new insights and
strengthen our individual practices.
Q: WHAT DOES THE EXCHANGE OF IDEAS
BETWEEN DERMATOLOGISTS, PLASTIC
SURGEONS AND SCIENTIFIC RESEARCHERS
BRING TO YOU ?
A: There is no question that every medical provider
brings his or her own perspective on medical
issues, and we gain new skills when we see how
other specialists look at aesthetic matters. For
example, as a very general rule, plastic surgeons
look at the three-dimensional form of the face or
body, while dermatologists traditionally focus
on the quality of the skin. In reality, both of these
approaches must be combined to identify the
«deficits» that require correction. Only then can
we really address all the aspects that will improve
the appearance of the patient. This of course refers
to the aesthetic issue. In patients who present
with medical complaints, we must pool our combined
knowledge bases to improve the connection
between accurate diagnosis and the most appropriate
treatment method. This is a whole different
level of collaboration and exchange of information.
Q: HOW DO YOU EVALUATE THE BENEFIT
OF THE INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC
COMMUNITY CONVENED AT AN IMCAS
MEETING ?
A: Medicine is both a science and an art. The
science is captured and accessible in the medical
literature, online, and in training programs.
But the art, which is based so much on personal
experience and nuances in approach, cannot be
taught in these formats. It is disseminated much
better by interpersonal contact at topic-specific
meetings, like the IMCAS, where the experience in
one country can be translated to another by direct
dialogue between two providers. The international
diversity in both the lecturers and the audience
facilitates this; and, the informal environment at
the meeting allows colleagues to talk about critical
pearls of information on the best treatment
methods.
GIOVANNI BOTTI
PLASTIC SURGEON - ITALY
Q: HOW DOES IMCAS IMPACT YOUR DAILY
PR ACTICE AND INSPIRE YOU ?
A: I believe that the annual IMCAS Conference is
very important for all those plastic surgeons who
wish to remain up-to-date. The best physicians
with world-wide fame in this field are regularly invited.
Thanks to them it is possible to follow the evolution
of the most updated and interesting surgical
techniques. I have participated in IMCAS since its
first edition and have always tried to openly present
my colleagues with my experience in different surgical
procedures, trying in turn to listen to them in
order to enrich my personal knowledge.
Q: WHAT DOES THE EXCHANGE OF IDEAS
BETWEEN DERMATOLOGISTS, PLASTIC
SURGEONS AND SCIENTIFIC RESEARCHERS
BRING TO YOU ?
A: The idea of creating, for the first time, a collaboration
between plastic surgeons, dermatologists
and physicians dealing with aesthetic medicine
was a unique one. Any specialist can try to identify
for instance, the most reliable filler or the most
effective resurfacing techniques; but to learn about
improvements regarding fat grafting, it is necessary
to hear actual experiences of international experts
from various disciplines.
Q: HOW DO YOU EVALUATE THE BENEFIT
OF THE INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC
COMMUNITY CONVENED AT AN IMCAS
MEETING ?
A: I believe that the international scientific community
can be greatly enriched here as far as the
clinical aspect is concerned; but at IMCAS it is
possible to deal also with the business side considering
the great number of exhibitors presenting
competing devices, products and books. Ultimately,
this conference is without doubt an excellent
opportunity for an annual discussion among physicians
and technicians with different backgrounds
involved in the world of aesthetic surgery and cosmetic
dermatology.
STEPHEN MULHOLLAND
PLASTIC SURGEON - CANADA
Q: HOW DOES IMCAS IMPACT YOUR DAILY
PR ACTICE AND INSPIRE YOU ?
A: IMCAS brings new techniques and ideas from
physicians around the world to one meeting. It is
a wonderful forum to update trends, procedures
and technologies from different regulatory environments
around the world making for a ripe cultural
medium.
Q: WHAT DOES THE EXCHANGE OF IDEAS
BETWEEN DERMATOLOGISTS, PLASTIC
SURGEONS AND SCIENTIFIC RESEARCHERS
BRING TO YOU ?
A: The exchange of ideas between dermatologists,
plastic surgeons, and cosmetic physicians from
around the world exposes you, as a clinician to alternative
thoughts and methodologies, forcing you
to analyze your own paradigms for treatment and
often altering these paradigms for the better.
Q: HOW DO YOU EVALUATE THE BENEFIT
OF THE INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC
COMMUNITY CONVENED AT AN IMCAS
MEETING ?
A: IMCAS, with is history, reputation and locations
is able to attract some of the most experienced,
reputable and cutting edge physicians, leaders in
their fields, providing a rich and stimulating learning
environment.
SIMULTANEOUS TRANSLATION IN ALL ROOMS
FRENCH-ENGLISH . ENGLISH-FRENCH
PAUL WIENER
INDUSTRY - USA
Q: HOW DOES IMCAS IMPACT YOUR DAILY
WORK WITHIN YOUR COMPANY?
A: Over the years, IMCAS has developed into one
of the most important international meetings of the
year. The format of a balanced industry/clinical
interaction is unique amongst the numerous meetings
held during the year. In particular, the ”IMCAS
Industry Tribune” brings together many of the key
players that ultimately shape the development and
introduction of new products in this market area. I
look at this session as a means of setting the tone
for the beginning of the calendar year (as well as
fiscal year). The ability to listen to the viewpoints of
both competitors and complimentary technologies
helps us formulate many internal product related
decisions. In addition, due to fact that IMCAS is the
first major meeting of the year, the “tone or attitude”
of the show sets the stage for subsequent important
meetings that follow later in the year.
Q: WHAT DOES THE EXCHANGE OF IDEAS
BETWEEN DERMATOLOGISTS , PLASTIC
SURGEONS AND INDUSTRIALS BRING TO
YOU ?
A: Because IMCAS reaches beyond the “core”
specialties and invites numerous other specialty
fields to participate, the interaction between individual
and the numerous industrial partners is very
stimulating and rewarding. I cannot think of another
event that is so inclusive to multi-specialties. I feel
that this “inclusiveness” strengthens industries’ understanding
of what the market needs by providing
a broader platform where different individuals can
voice their thoughts.
Q: HOW DO YOU EVALUATE THE BENEFIT
OF THE INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC
COMMUNITY CONVENED AT AN IMCAS
MEETING ?
A: I generally view the faculty at IMCAS as one of
the top group of participants assembled in the industry.
Most are names of doctors already known
to me and therefore, their standing amongst their
peers is well known. However, there are always new
additions to the faculty list that bring interesting
and often provocative topics to the floor. IMCAS
has always tried to remain “fresh” in its’ approach
of bringing the top faculty from around the world
together in Paris at the beginning of the year.

WHY PARIS?
IMCAS Annual Meeting is held in Paris since its creation in 1995. Paris can rightly claim to be a global centre of decision-making. It is among the top-ranking European cities in
terms of GDP. With a high level of specialization in a range of sectors, Paris is one of the most competitive destinations in Europe. The competitiveness clusters, which receive
support from the public authorities, give its sectors of excellence high international visibility and legitimacy.
In terms of accessibility, it is hard to beat Paris, uniquely situated at the very heart of Europe. Its air transport hub is the largest in mainland Europe. Thanks to the high-speed train
(TGV) network, Paris is less than four hours from the major European capital cities. And once in Paris, it is easy to get around, using the metropolitan railway (Métro), bus, tram, or
Vélib’ (self-service bicycle hire).
11. Speakers Preview Room
All sessions are equipped with computer projection. In order
to ensure a successful congress, speakers are asked
to have their presentations delivered to the Preview Room
at least 2 hours before the start of the session or on the
day before.
Speakers: please, present yourself at the Faculty Welcome
desk and ask for Deborah or Ramona. You will be
given all necessary information.
12. Scientific Posters & Cyberstation (IMCAS Internet
Kiosk)
The POSTER session is held on Monday January 11 at
lunch time, meeting point being the Welcome Desk.
Visit the IMCAS Internet Kiosk to check email and view the
scientific lectures in electronic format (E-Papers).
E-Papers provide an opportunity for in-depth information
exchange. You will be able to exchange ideas about clinical
cases presented by sending personalized emails to the
authors.
13. Evaluation Form
Your evaluation of this meeting is extremely important to the
Scientific Committee in preparing future events. Moreover,
CME credits will not be given to educational congresses
unless Evaluation Forms are filled by attendees.
Evaluation forms should be filled in at the latest before
February 12 - 2010. Certificate of Attendance will then be
automatically established and emailed to the attendee.

ANTI AGING
COURSE PROGRAM
Friday
from JANUARY 11.00 am 8
2010
to 3 pm

by the renowned Pr Vincent CASTRONOVO, Head Professor of the Metastasis Research Laboratory, University of Liège in Belgium

engaged in constant travel and research around the world.

explored by the plastic surgeons, dermatologists, and the concerned experts.
What can we call fact in the year 2010? Where is the science? Are we learning anything new or is it just a repackaging of ancient
ideas? Instead of anti aging, why don’t we simply say words like nutrition, hormonotherapy, gynecology or dermatology?

In anti aging claims, let’s stay modest until fact is established.
most of the leading companies dealing with the aesthetic medical market. This experience paved the way to the creation in 2007 of the “IMCAS INDUSTRY INNOVATION
TRIBUNE” and has established it in Europe as the leading forum regarding the market place of aesthetic issues. This unique event gathers each year the leaders of major
aesthetic medical companies and innovative SMEs. The 2010 edition is updated with a concentrated program and increased interactions between participants and lecturers.
A networking cocktail closes the session.
Let’s:
Analyze the aesthetic medical market on a worldwide basis with a focus on Europe - taking into account the consequences of the current financial environment
Estimate market growth capacities and discuss innovative technologies
Assess the changing botulinum toxin market
