Jiu-Jitsu Championship is
set to commence at Dubai’s
Shabab Al Ahli Club, gathering
talented athletes from various academies
across multiple categories, from
September 8th to 10th, this prestigious
tournament was organized by the UAE
Jiu-Jitsu Federation (UAEJJF) in partnership
with Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Pro
(AJP). The opening day highlighted
youth competitions, followed by amateur
and masters’ events. The final
day showcased professional players,
marking the event’s pinnacle. Youssef
Abdullah Al Batran, UAEJJF Board
Member, stressed the championship’s
significance as a vital precursor to the
Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu
Championship, promoting skills assessment,
technique refinement, and
talent development.
Riyadh Air in Talks for Chelsea FC Shirt Sponsorship
Riyadh Air is currently in preliminary
discussions with
Chelsea FC regarding a potentially
substantial sponsorship
arrangement, as reported by The
Athletic. The English Premier League
team, currently lacking a front-ofshirt
sponsor, is said to be seeking a
deal valued at approximately $75M.
Although these talks are in their early
stages, representatives from Riyadh
Air were hosted by Chelsea’s Chief
Executive, Chris Jurasek, during the
club’s recent 1-0 match at Stamford
Bridge. Notably, Middle East airlines
Emirates and Etihad have long-standing
sponsorships with English Premier
League clubs, adorning the kits of
Arsenal and Manchester City. Riyadh
Air, owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public
Investment Fund, shares ownership
ties with Chelsea’s, Newcastle United.
Tatarstan President Praises UAE President’s
Cup Organization in Kazan
Rustam Minnikhanov,
President of the Republic
of Tatarstan, a part of
the Russian Federation,
commended the UAE’s excellence
in organizing the 30th UAE
President’s Cup World Series for
Purebred Arabian Horses races at
the Kazan Racecourse, coinciding
with Tatarstan’s 33rd Republic Day.
Minnikhanov made these remarks
during a meeting with Hamad Rashid
Al Habsi, Deputy Head of the UAE’s
Mission in Moscow, and Saeed Khalifa
Al Mehairi, Representative of the
Organizing Committee of the UAE
President’s Cup World Series for
Purebred Arabian Horses. The meeting
coincided with the 9th leg of the UAE
President’s Cup, attracting 30,000
spectators and showcasing Tatarstan’s
culture and heritage. Minnikhanov
highlighted how such collaborations
enhance bilateral relations and
cultural exchanges, extending best
wishes for continued progress and
prosperity to the UAE.
Dubai Sports Council
Unveils 2nd “Women
Running Race”
The Dubai Sports Council
(DSC) has announced the
eagerly awaited 2nd edition of
the “Women Running Race,”
set to take place from September
30th to November 11th, 2023. This
extraordinary event will span Dubai’s
renowned tourist destinations, featuring
four distinct stages. Participants
can choose from three race distances:
2.5 km, 5 km, and 10 km. Notably, each
participant will be awarded an innovative
medal, consisting of four separate
pieces, each adorned with the logo of
the corresponding stage location. Once
all four stages are completed, these individual
medals will be assembled into
a single, grand medal, proudly bearing
the name of Dubai and showcasing
imagery representing the four areas.
The 10 km race will categorise female
participants into five age groups, while
the 5 km race will feature two categories,
and the 2.5 km race will include
four age-based groups, ensuring an
inclusive and exciting experience for
women of all ages in Dubai.
