LYTTELTON Harbour
has been home to
historian and educator
Jane Robertson for 20
years.
After the success of
her 2016 book Head
of the Harbour about
Governors Bay, she has
turned her attention to
the many jetties that dot
the harbour. They are
now the physical starting
point for her new book
Living Between Land
& Sea, published by
Massey University Press.
“Jetties conjure up
very happy childhood
memories of wonderful
times spent in Lyttelton
Harbour,” said Robertson.
“They constitute a
liminal space in which
the land extends over the
sea. We walk to the end,
turn around and view
the land differently.”
