The tour is designed to share the<br />

history of Risingholme Homestead<br />

and Park – a heritage park that has<br />

a number of rare tree species from<br />

England, a notable Kauri tree, and a<br />

beautiful Category 2 heritage-listed<br />

building. Come along and enjoy<br />

the garden, building and stories of<br />

this important community asset.<br />

Wheelchair access downstairs is<br />

available. Unfortunately, there is<br />

no lift access to the 1st floor of the<br />

Homestead. Free, no bookings<br />

witness signatures on documents,<br />

certify document copies, take oaths,<br />

marriage or civil union, citizenship<br />

applications, sponsorship applications,<br />

and rates rebate applications. There is<br />

no charge for this service.<br />

Extravaganza, Sunday 10am-4pm, Ferrymead Heritage Park. Enjoy<br />

unlimited rides on the double-decker trams, and explore the park and its<br />

many activities and exhibits, from fire engines, aeroplanes, tractors and<br />

model railroads, to experiencing telecommunication through the ages.<br />

Visit the blacksmith, print shop, schoolhouse, jail, theatre, playground<br />

and early-century cottages. Face painting, ponies and petting zoo,<br />

food and more. The steam train will be running also. Admission prices<br />

from $6.50 to $56.50 include all attractions except the train, food and<br />

Old Stone House Open Day<br />

Old Stone House, 30 Shalamar Drive<br />

Visit the Old Stone House and soak up<br />

the ambience and history of this heritage<br />

building, originally built for Sir<br />

John Cracroft Wilson’s Indian workers.<br />

Built in 1870, Old Stone House is<br />

fully restored and reopened in 2018 after<br />

earthquake strengthening and major<br />

repairs. There will be a display of<br />

information on the history of the Old<br />

Stone House from its beginnings to<br />

its current use as a community centre<br />

and event venue. Bagpiper, facepainting,<br />

refreshments available on the day.<br />
