Two years jail for manslaughter ‘a joke’

Lock him up for at least 10 years
before he is even eligible for
parole. And put the mates in
jail as well for not helping Tony
Kelly. Make thugs accountable
even if they have had a “poor
upbringing”.

Why didn’t the judge throw
in a big bag of lollies as well.
He shouldn’t be seeing daylight
for at least 25 years. Time to get
a petition going and make it
harder for criminals and then
they might think before they act.

such a low sentence. My thoughts
– should be at least 10 years to be
fully served and only released at
the end of the sentence to give
some comfit for the aggrieved
family. The justice system seems
to support the perpetrator and
not the victim/s.

A sad illusion that justice was
served when the reality of it is
these kind of people don’t learn
and the law allows them to get
away with murder, literally. I feel
there should be a minimum of 10
years with a two-year probation
to follow. While manslaughter is
an accident, actions need
to be accounted for. This young
boy in my eyes looks like a little
smart ass.
Martial arts is a sport that is
taught with discipline. When
learning such a sport it is well
known knowledge such powerful
kicks and punches should
only be used as a self defence,
to just use it as a random act of
violence goes against everything
taught in such art.
Nagel obviously knew what
he was doing when he delivered
a kick to the victim, and what’s
worse he showed no remorse,
knocking the person to the
ground and instead high fived
his mates.
This is sadly why we have repeat
gang raids, repeat violence
and constant general public
crime because the justice system
is too weak. Enrol them into the
army, send them off to the front
line. They enjoy violence but two
years jail, that’s laughable.

Time for us citizens to reject
these judgments and protest,
especially when we have a new
government. The harshest sentence
was required here and for
future crimes like this.

Killing an innocent man and
the penalty is two years prison
with the ability to apply for home
detention is a complete and utter
disgrace to our legal system. I
feel deeply for Mr Kelly’s family.
I also see that young man
from South Canterbury has been
released from prison after a short
term for the deaths of five young
kids. Our justice system is weak
and meaningless.
