SHEEP
Sheep featured prominently in both
Helen’s real and imaginary worlds.
Nieu-Bethesda is surrounded by
sheep farms and to this day, the
animals graze in and around the town.
In the long bedroom are two pictures
of Jesus as a shepherd, one of the
most potent metaphors in Christianity.
Sheep are symbolically used in three
main senses in the New Testament
– Jesus as sacrificial lamb, Jesus as
shepherd of his flock of believers and
Jesus as shepherd who will separate
the sheep from the goats at the final
judgement.
