Detective Daniel Carr who has been in law
enforcement for more than 17 years with a large
agency in the southwestern United States. Daniel
holds a Master’s Degree in criminal justice and a
law degree, both of which he earned while being
a full-time police officer. Many of you know Daniel
as the creator of Police Law News – video and
written content that honestly examines police
incidents, police policy, law, culture and, in my
opinion, addresses civilian misconceptions of law
enforcement. All of it is thought provoking, well
researched and insightful. You can find his video
content on all social media platforms and his
very well-written articles on Substack. His videos
on TikTok alone have garnered him more than
135,000 followers. Daniel is a regular contributer
to The BLUES.
DANIEL CARR
I got a request from Michael Barron to write a
biography of myself for the 40th Anniversary of
“The BLUES.” So here goes, what many of us with
39 plus years of service have seen, heard, or done.
I started my career in law enforcement at age 10
when my dad went to work for the police department
at the University of Houston. He asked and
received the OK for me to ride with him all night in
his patrol car. Things were much different in 1956
But I wasn’t in that patrol car for long before I was
hooked and from that time on, all I wanted was to
be a police officer. Eventually, I went to work at
the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. I worked in the
jail (of course), dispatch, patrol until I was promoted
to Detective. It was there, I had the opportunity
to serve as the department ‘s representative
to the Harris County Medical Society. I also served
on Governor Ann Richards task force on violent
and abusive behavior and served on the board of
advisors to Senator J.E. “Buster” Brown. I hold a
Master Peace Officer rating, instructor, and firearms
instructor rating with T.C.O.L.E. I also worked
for Continental Airlines Corporate Security as Director
of Security for Latin America, the Caribbean
and Southwest U.S.
