Thomas Hearne [1678-1735], was at one time an assistant
keeper at the Bodleian, lived most of his life at
Edmund Hall, Oxford, carrying on his literary and
historical works. He refused several posts in the University
because of his nonjuring principles. These
included the Camden professorship of history, Keeper
of the Archives and head librarian of the Bodleian.
