Thomas Hearne [1678-1735], was at one time an assistant<br />
keeper at the Bodleian, lived most of his life at<br />
Edmund Hall, Oxford, carrying on his literary and<br />
historical works. He refused several posts in the University<br />
because of his nonjuring principles. These<br />
included the Camden professorship of history, Keeper<br />
of the Archives and head librarian of the Bodleian.<br />
