William Carlos Williams [1883-1963]: One of the most<br />
influential poets of the twentieth century. James Laughlin<br />
[1914-1997]: The founder of New Directions, publisher<br />
and editor of the modernists. The correspondance they<br />
began in 1933 continued for thirty years during which<br />
they were on the cutting edge of the literary vanguard.<br />
The Selection of almost 150 letters is informatively annotated<br />
by Hugh Whitmeyer, professor of English at the<br />
University of New Mexico and author of the important<br />
study «The poetry of Ezra Pound: Forms and Renewal<br />
1908-1920». This is only the second major collection of<br />
William’s letters ever published.<br />
