will be part of the Santa Parade
in New Brighton on Saturday.
The Kingswood is the New
Brighton Museum’s showpiece
in the parade, which starts at
10.30am.
Museum president Wayne
Hawker said the vehicle is “the
jewel in their crown”.
“After the games, the
Kingswoods were sold off. This
particular vehicle was bought
by the Freakish family and has
been owned by the same family
ever since.

and Lake Terrace Rds are under
way, with the civil works expected
to be finished by the end of the
week.
Night work began on Sunday
and will last the week, while
the traffic signals will be
commissioned next week.

The need for safety
improvements followed a total
of 36 crashes at the intersection
between 2010 and 2019, which
included 12 injury crashes with
four people being seriously
injured.
The main causes of the crashes
have been red light running,
right-turning traffic failing to
give way and right-angle
crashes.
Wright said the city council
hasn’t received any formal
feedback about the construction
work as yet.
“We have communicated with
local residents before and during
the construction works to ensure
they retain access to their homes
and are notified of any work
late in the evening/through the
night.
“We’ve provided start
works notices (SWNs) and a
construction update to explain
what the work involves, and what
the impacts will be throughout
construction.”
The project will cost
approximately $660,000 and
is being funded through the
Christchurch Regeneration
Acceleration Facility.
The purpose of this fund is to
deliver transport projects that
will improve liveability and
support regeneration across
Ōtautahi Christchurch.
