Reservoirs
Throughout South Australia are 10 open access reservoir reserves
that have become a sanctuary for outdoor enthusiasts.
Enjoy a range of land and water-based recreational activities, such as
kayaking, fishing, cycling, hiking and picnicking. Whether you are
seeking a leisurely stroll or a challenging hike, there are many
walking/running tracks catering to all levels of fitness.
Explore 10 kilometres of trails that weave through a diverse landscape
along the southern shores of the Myponga reservoir on the Fleurieu
Peninsula, or visit Warren’s two unsealed trails that provide a great
bushwalking experience with water views within the Barossa Valley.
Biking enthusiasts can also embark on a cycling adventure, from easy
rides suitable for families to adrenaline-pumping tracks for
experienced cyclists. Pedal through the vast green open spaces and
explore the reserves in a way that’s both invigorating and eco-friendly.
Discover Hope Valley’s 4 kilometres of unsealed trails that loop
around the reservoir reserve in Adelaide’s north-east, cross the dam
wall and weave through native vegetation, or check out Happy Valley
in Adelaide’s south, which boasts nearly 30 kilometres of trails
suitable for mountain bikes.
These multi-use trails promote physical wellbeing and offer an
opportunity to unplug from everyday life and embrace the outdoors.
Grab your running shoes or hop on your bike, and let the exploration
begin.
Make the most of the experience by using the Avenza app – a free
tool that provides detailed maps of each reserve and pinpoints your
location, even without mobile coverage.
