ON THE READERS’ REBELLION GERGELY BÖSZÖRMÉNYI-NAGY (DESIGN TERMINAL, BRAIN BAR) ENIKŐ SZAKOS (LEARNING INSTITUTE) Abstract The conversation questions whether everyone should be allowed to write and publish as well as the responsibility for determining the quality of literature, especially in an era dominated by international authors. Titled "Readers Rebellion," the discussion examines the trend of turning against digitalization and the resurgence of interest in printed books, questioning whether this shift represents a rebellion and if reading is becoming trendy again. The potential threat to printed books, analysing post-COVID trends in library usage is addressed. Despite a resurgence in library visits, concerns about the danger to printed books persist. The conversation also explores the theme of rebellion in writing, particularly examining the work "Nonconform" by Gergely Nagy-Böszörményi and whether writers use their works to rebel against societal norms. The conversation touches upon the mandatory reading of Hungarian classics for young Hungarians, questioning the relevance of the current list and potential changes. Finally, the discussion tackles the decision-making process behind choosing what to read, exploring the factors influencing readers' choices in a rapidly evolving literary landscape.
