Students presented original research on the undermining<br />

principles and mechanisms <strong>of</strong> exercise performance in human<br />

subjects this past year. Two students presented at the Michigan<br />

ACSM conference, two presented at the National ACSM conference,<br />

and six presented at the Midwest ACSM conference.<br />

Regional awards were presented to Josh Mayne (’24) and Jaye<br />

Fuller (’26) by the Midwest Regional Chapter <strong>of</strong> ACSM. Mayne<br />

received the undergraduate student research study project award,<br />

and Fuller won the outstanding undergraduate student oral<br />

presentation award.<br />

Contact hours completed in 2023 by 41 student interns at 26<br />

different sites in the greater Grand Rapids area. This included<br />

physical therapy clinics, occupational therapy facilities, cardiac<br />

rehabilitation programs, chiropractic clinics, pr<strong>of</strong>essional sports<br />

outlets, K-12 physical education, and more!<br />

BSN PROGRAM AWARDED CCNE ACCREDITATION<br />

<strong>Cornerstone</strong>’s pre-licensure Bachelor<br />

<strong>of</strong> Science in Nursing program received<br />

accreditation from the Commission on<br />

Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).<br />

The five-year accreditation is retroactively<br />

effective March 15, 2023, marking the date <strong>of</strong><br />

the CCNE’s site visit.<br />

“We are excited to <strong>of</strong>fer students an academically excellent nursing education that<br />

meets national standards while maintaining the ability to challenge future nurses<br />

to view their patients and their pr<strong>of</strong>ession through a Biblical worldview,” said Misty<br />

Emmons, chief nursing administrator and assistant pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> nursing.<br />

The first cohort <strong>of</strong> nursing degree candidates will graduate in May <strong>2024</strong>.<br />
