““ LEADERS OF COMPETENCE AND CHARACTER The Six Distinguishing Characteristics of CU Christian Influencers Confidence in higher education has sharply declined according to a recent Gallup poll from June 1-22, 2023, titled “Americans’ Confidence in Higher Education Down Sharply.” Falling to 36% in 2023 versus 57% in 2015, 1 this decline comes amidst questions about degree value, high cost, free speech, and politicization of higher education as well as concerns about trust in America’s most influential institutions. Cornerstone University is committed to providing families with a trusted education that offers measurable value by providing character-forming experiences that positively influence the marketplace and society. The CU Promise is Cornerstone’s pathway to educate, spiritually form and successfully graduate bold, Christ-centered leaders of skill and character who influence the world for Jesus Christ. With a focus on six defining outcomes, Cornerstone seeks to create a Destination of Choice university that is unwaveringly excellent and uncompromisingly Biblical. 1. BE EXPERTS IN THEIR FIELD OF STUDY AND CHOSEN PROFESSION 3. BE EXCELLENT WRITTEN, VERBAL AND NONVERBAL COMMUNICATORS In leading-edge programs, students gain the knowledge, skills, and expertise needed to excel as leaders and solution providers in their chosen fields as well as learn skills to evolve as industries change. Students learn to articulate ideas clearly, engage in respectful dialogue, and effectively communicate across a broad range of professional and personal contexts through rigorous written course work, public speaking opportunities, and experiential learning. 2. Events such as Wisdom Conversations, community service projects, internships, and international experiential learning trips also offer a range of opportunities to develop relationships and to provide networking experiences.
