Bilarong Reserve
Located right next to
Narrabeen Lagoon on the
Wakehurst Parkway, Bilarong
Reserve at North Narrabeen
is an ideal place for a family
picnic. Complete with bike
tracks, a playground in two
halves – a shaded fenced play
area with basic equipment for
toddlers surrounded by a larger
more adventurous playground
– and fantastic BBQ and table
set-ups, it ticks a lot of boxes.
McCarrs Creek
Reserve
This is a picturesque spot with
the Ku-ring-gai Chase National
Park on the opposite side. The
large grassy area is great for
games. Dogs are welcome
from Monday to Friday in the
signposted off-lead dog area
which is west of the main
access road into the reserve.
Robert Dunn Reserve
The Robert Dunn reserve near
Mona Vale Hospital takes in
the beautiful scenery of Mona
Vale beach and surroundings,
with plenty of benches and
seats. It also doubles as a
dog park – one of the little
treasures of the area.
Warriewood Valley
Playground
Better known as ‘Rocket
Park’ this is a great space
with a range of exciting play
equipment for kids of all ages.
There are shaded areas with
seating, BBQs and toilets in this
peaceful setting off Callistemon
Way, Warriewood. Locals’ Tip:
The Rocket can get very hot in
the heat of a Summer’s Day.
Winnererremy Bay
‘Flying Fox Park’ next to
Pittwater High School in Mona
Vale is still one of the best
parks for children of varying
ages. The playground has a
giant climbing structure for
the older kids, swings and
much more to keep the littlies
entertained for hours. The park
also has BBQs and picnic areas
and is bike-, skateboard- and
scooter-friendly.

ACTIVITIES
There are plenty of ways to
keep the kids busy this January.
Tennis
Goodwin’s Tennis Academy
offer instruction on strokes
for beginners to advanced
levels. There are also round
robins, games and match
play. School holiday tennis
camps for ages 4 and up
run throughout January at
Kitchener Park Mona Vale with
full and half-day sessions and
before and after care available.

Nature focus
Children aged 6-12 love the funpacked
holiday programs run
from the CEC Narrabeen where
they learn about our natural
environment and how they can
help preserve it. In January,
programs generally run from
10am-3pm and include Nature
Detectives, Eco Explorers,
Marine Art and Science, Junior
Marine Biology and Survival
Skills to name a few. Cost $74
per child. Bookings essential

Reading Challenge
School aged children are
welcome to take on the
Summer Reading Challenge
running until January 31. Pick
up a booklet from any Northern
Beaches Council Library and
complete all 12 challenges for a
chance to win a prize pack. Kids
who complete the challenge
by January 20 will receive an
invitation to a Summer Reading
Party with a disco, games and
prizes.
Funday Sunday
Pittwater RSL is hosting a
Funday Sunday on The Deck on
Jan 7 from 12pm-5pm where
there will be face painting,
balloon animals and free frozen
slushies for the kids.
