January brought Mildred Dilling to Albuquerque for
a workshop as well as those desiring private lessons.
Several New Mexico harpists joined the class to take
advantage of her famous study methods. Also in January
two college members, Randy Field and Carla Scaletti,
participated in the Fine Arts Students Club. Sylvia
Gioni will play for the Mozart Society in February, and
Carla Scaletti will play with the Roswell Symphony in
February.
On February 9th, Nicanor Zabaleta was guest artist
with the Albuquerque Symphony. The New Mexico
Chapter hosted an open house at Sylvia Gioni's home to
offer New Mexico harpists an opportunity to meet Sr.
Zabaleta.
New Mexico Chapter members are looking ahead to
May 4th, the date of our annual Spring Musical and
Potluck supper for our families and friends.
New officers for the coming year include: President,
Dr. William Grabowski; Vice President, Nancy Ruth
Weart; Secretary, Gene Wilson; Treasurer, Carla
Scaletti.

Last spring, our chapter presented Nancy Gustavson
Bartlett in recital at Kerr Studio in Scottsdale, Arizona.
She also demonstrated the harp in schools in Mesa,
Arizona.
In May, pupils of Margaret Slaff and Ester Mc­
Laughlin played a Sunday afternoon harp program at
the Arizona State University recital hall.
Margaret Slaff taught Troubadour harp at Camp
Pacifica at Carlsbad, California during the summer.
In July, our chapter attended Mildred Dilling's recital
at Arizona State University. There was a full house and
it was a joyful evening.
We had regular meetings in September and November
with members providing the programs and refreshments
and good fellowship.
In November, the Phoenix Chapter in conjunction
with Phoenix College Music Dept., sponsored Randall
Pratt in concert at the college.
Our next meeting was February 6, 1974 and plans for
the Mildred Dilling workshop at Arizona State University
March 4 thru 9 were discussed.
Election of officers will be in April with new officers
installed in the Fall of '74.
Our last event of this year will be our annual May
recital.
SAHUARO

The Sahuaro Chapter of Tucson has continued to
hold monthly meetings in members' homes. Rebecca
Reinhard is doing an excellent job as chapter president,
making the year of 1973-1974 a very successful one.
At each meeting, members of the chapter have performed
various pieces. The December meeting was
highlighted by a group playing of Christmas carols. It
was a gay and exciting occasion. On October 2 7, the
students of Patricia Harris, gave a recital at the Unitarian
Universal Church.
