GRANT
The Research Committee of the American Harp
Society, Lucile Jennings, Chairman, announces
receipt of a grant from the National Endowment
for the Humanities for the establishment of a
Repository for important and rare harp scores
and harp-related documents, to be housed in the
Music Division of the Library of Congress.
Items for this collection will be accepted by
donation and will be screened for their value as
research materials, then catalogued, and placed
in the permanent American Harp Society collection.
These items will not circulate but may
be consulted in Washington. In some cases they
will be available on microfilm. Each donated
item will be marked with the donor's name
unless otherwise requested. Items sought are
autograph scores or rare out-of-print music, letters,
programs from premiere performances or
other important performances, recordings from
premiere performances, photographs, scrapbooks
and other important memorabilia, etc. If
you think you have suitable materials for this
collection and would like to donate them or
designate them for later donation to this Repository,

Marcel Grandjany in Concert
The long-playing record album of Marcel
Grandjany is again available: selections are
drawn from his later recordings and include the
Hindemith Sonata, Falla's Spanish Dance No. 1,
Grandjany's realization of the C.P.E. Bach
Sonata, and his own Fantaisie on a Theme of
Haydn. The record may be purchased from Lyon

All proceeds are for the benefit of the Marcel
Grandjany Memorial Fund of the American
Harp Society, Inc.
Marcel Grandjany Memorial Fund
On 21 June 1973 the Marcel Grandjany Fund
was established for the purpose of improving the
quality of performance by harpists through supporting
educational programs for students and
through subsidizing concerts by young artists.
Contributions to this fund were used as stipulated.
Now, a new fund has been established in Mr.
Grandjany's name for the same purpose but as a
memorial fund. The following action was taken
by the Board of Directors on 23 June 1979:
1. That interested individuals make a concerted
effort to raise money for a Marcel Grandjany
Memorial Fund having the same purpose as
the Marcel Grandjany Fund;
2. That if $10,000 is not raised within three
years, the money be used in accordance with
the Board's action of 21 June 1973;
3. That the fund and interest therefrom be
placed in the Society's savings account under
separate and distinct entries in the Treasurer's
records.
The Society welcomes your contributions to
this new fund. Checks should be made payable
to the American Harp Society, Inc., designated
Grandjany Memorial Fund, and sent to 6331

are tax deductible.
Grandjany Biography
Marcel Grandjany: Concert Harpist, Composer, and
Teacher by Ruth K. Inglefield is available
through the offices of the International Harp
Corporation (Salvi). All proceeds from this publication
are donated to the Marcel Grandjany
Fund of the American Harp Society.
