Splashing start
at Nantong
The rain could not dampen
the high spirits of Keppelites
at Keppel Nantong as they
witnessed the launching of
the yard’s first Anchor
Handling Tug/Supply (AHTS)
vessel on 4 September 2007.
It was a momentous
occasion as the 60-tonne
AHTS for Hadi Offshore
(HADI) made its way inch-byinch
into the Chang Jiang
River.
Mr Wong Phuay Cheng,
VP (Operations) of Keppel
Nantong, said, “We had to
move the vessel transversely
or sideways from the
building berth to the
launchway, then to the
launching platform.
“With our specially-designed
transfer and launching
mechanism, we managed to
achieve the milestone in a
short span of time.”
The launch of the AHTS
followed shortly after two
tugboats in June this year.
Keppel Nantong is also
constructing three other
AHTS vessels for HADI, all of
which will be launched
progressively till end-2007.

Ocean Saratoga is the 15th gem Diamond has entrusted with Keppel AmFELS
Keppel AmFELS delivered
its fifteenth vessel, semi
drilling unit Ocean
Saratoga to Diamond
Offshore on time and
within budget, in April
2007. The vessel has left
for the Gulf of Mexico to
commence work for LLOG
Exploration.
The vessel which arrived
in the yard in August last
year underwent required
renewal and repair works.
Major works were carried
out on its external
structure and internal
systems including the
ballast and fire pump
well renewal as well as
renewals to lower hull
structural steel.
Including Ocean Saratoga,
Keppel AmFELS’s proven
ability has seen the yard

complete 15 projects for
Diamond Offshore which
includes newbuilds, rig
renewals, repairs, conversions
and major refurbishment
works for Diamond.
Ocean Yorktown, a sister to
semi Ocean Saratoga, is in
the yard undergoing similar
life extension repair as well.
Another semi Ocean Worker
is undergoing classification
survey and repair works.
Keppel AmFELS is also
undertaking repair works
for Pride Texas, a mat
supported cantilever jackup
for long-time customer,
Pride International.
When completed in
November 2007, Pride Texas
will be back working for
Mexican national oil
company, PEMEX. keppelite
