Wild about sports
Tanglin School students having a ball of a time during their Sports Day
Panthers, Leopards,
Cheetahs and Jaguars
ran freely around the
compounds of the Republic
Polytechnic (RP) on 8 August
2007.
Before you go hunting for
these wild animals, STOP.
They are the 250 students
from the Tanglin School of
the Association for Persons
with Special Needs (APSN)
represented by their
respective sports group
names.
As the saying goes, “All work
and no play makes Jack a dull
boy”, and to encourage a
healthy lifestyle amongst
students, the Tanglin School
did so the fun way.
With help from Keppel
Volunteers and students of
the RP School of Sports,
Health and Leisure, the
Tanglin School Sports Day
took place on 8 August
2007.
The RP sports hall was filled
with laughter and loud
cheers as the teams gave
their all in the games –
captain’s ball and floorball.
Displaying precision, agility,
strength and endurance, the
games continued until the
winning teams for each
sport emerged at the
finals.
Having earned a well
deserved rest, the students
were rewarded with a
Keppel-sponsored goodie
bag each, containing drinks,
snacks and stationery.
But, the day was not over for
them. The Tanglin School
Sports Day ended on a high
note, concluded with a funfilled
mass dance session.
Giggles and applause
filled the hall as students,
teachers and volunteers
alike sashayed across the
dance floors.
Teo Wei Kiat, Hull Engineer
at Keppel Shipyard Tuas,
shared, “The event was
enjoyable and meaningful.
Seeing all their innocent
smiling faces gave me a great
sense of satisfaction.
“This is my first time as a
Keppel Volunteer but it will
definitely not be my last. It is
a great opportunity to
contribute back to the
society.” keppelite
