Creating a safe and clean
environment
Keppel Seghers Engineering
Singapore (KSES) was lauded
for its efforts in promoting
and maintaining a safe
working environment. It was
recently awarded the
Certificate of Excellence by
the Land Transport Authority
(LTA) for its safety
achievement of over
700,000 accident free
manhours on the C413
Kallang-Paya Lebar
Expressway (KPE) project.

Speaking at LTA’s 9th Annual
Safety Award Convention,
Guest-of-Honour Mrs Lim
Hwee Hua, Minister of State
for Finance and Transport,
stressed the importance
of safety compliance
for management and
working level, “Leadership
commitment has the
greatest impact on the safety
culture of an organisation.
“However, this strong

partners to create a holistic,
sustainable and systemic
safety culture in Singapore.”
Besides implementing safety
management plans, KSES
has gone beyond complying
LTA’s safety standards.
KSES organises regular
programmes safety
promotion campaigns for its
workers, sub-contractors and
customers to instill a sense of
responsibility for safety from
the management to staff.
KSES has also achieved the
ISO 14001:2004 Standard on
Environmental Management
System (EMS) certification,
an internationally recognised
certification for
environmental management
systems. It specifies
requirements for establishing
an environmental policy,
determining environmental
aspects and impacts of
products.
With the ISO 14001
certification, KSES is able to
implement, maintain and
improve its environmental
management system, ensure
conformance with its own
stated environmental policy,
demonstrate conformance,
ensure compliance with
environmental laws and
regulations.
