Black Country Chamber wins two
tenders to support start-ups
As part of our drive to boost the region’s economy, the Chamber has secured two
tenders to help new businesses and shape the success stories of tomorrow.
The Chamber of Commerce is to deliver support services for start-up businesses to
grow economic prosperity and employment opportunities in Walsall and
Wolverhampton. These build on our track record of helping fledgling firms to grow, by
providing support which helps young companies to take their next steps.

The Black Country Chamber of
Commerce is to deliver support services
for start-up businesses to grow
economic prosperity and employment in
Walsall and Wolverhampton.
Following two successful tender
applications, the Chamber will provide
services for new and growing
businesses on behalf of Walsall Council
and City of Wolverhampton Council as
part of their drive to build their local
economies.
The Chamber plans to deliver both
programmes of support through its
current Start-up provision. The
Chamber launched the Start-Up
Business Club in 2018 to provide
platforms and opportunities for
businesses looking to grow, connect
and become part of a thriving network.
The Club contributes to the growth of
a new business by providing a
supportive environment and valuable
connections including a dedicated
business relationship manager.
Under the City of Wolverhampton
Council’s ‘Our City Our Plan’ strategy,
the Chamber of Commerce team will
offer local firms in the early stages of
development a suite of activity to help
them start up, scale up and thrive.
With funding from the Government
through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund,
the start-up programme, which will run
until March 2025, will support
Wolverhampton residents as they
engage with and access skills that allow
them to launch new businesses that will
go on to grow and thrive.
The scheme aims to increase the
number of new enterprises, ranging
from sole trader and micro business to
SMEs and large enterprises, including
social enterprises.
Following the successful Walsall
tender application, the Chamber will
help new and growing businesses
through the Business Growth Walsall
programme.
Chamber CEO Sarah Moorhouse said
the contract wins would enable the
Chamber to create more prosperity
among start-up businesses in both
areas. She said: “We are delighted to
have secured these contracts; this is a
vital service provision for new and
growing companies looking for expert
support to transition from start-up
stage to being a fully-fledged business
set up for success.
