Intelligent edgebanding
workstation for high-end
customised furniture

In recent years, the market has
shifted towards small batches and
a variety of personalised demands
as the norm. Additionally, there is a
continuous increase in demands for
furniture design and quality. In this
competitive industry, both custommade
furniture and high-end furniture
enterprises face new challenges
and changes in management,
technology, manufacturing, sales,
and market demands. This compels
people to address the contradiction
between market customisation
demands and enterprise-scale
production, which will lead to common
changes in management, design,
and craft technology to adapt.
This transformation has driven the
advancement of furniture production
equipment technology.
As an example, let’s consider the
automatic edgebanding production
line. The common edgebanding
machines on the market are connected
to automatic conveyor tables,
achieving edgebanding automation
through signal transmission. This
allows for multiple edges to be banded
in a single feeding, saving labour and
increasing productivity. However, the
current rise of high-end custom-made
furniture demands that production
enterprises not only consider
intelligence, flexibility, and productivity
but also ensure high product quality
during production. Edgebanding, as
one of the factors with the greatest
impact on product quality, has led to
the emergence of some edgebanding
workstations that meet the craft
requirements for high-end production.
For example, recently introduced
by Nanxing is the squaring system,
which features intelligent flexible
edgebanding lines with guides, paired
with a fully servo-configured highspeed
intelligent edgebanding machine,
as well as left-right edgebanding lines
tailored for narrow boards.
EDGEBANDING WORKCELL WITH SQUARING
In Nanxing’s edgebanding line,
there are two high-speed intelligent
edgebanding machines and squaring
system, along with a conveyor table.
With one pass, it can complete
edgebanding on both the left and right
sides. Equipped with an independent
control system, it automatically
scans and recognises the board’s
processing information, reads the
processing information, implements
guiding, automatic switching of
glue colour, selection of edgebands,
trimming, corner rounding, and other
operations. It can also interface with
manufacturing enterprise system
(MES) software to achieve data
exchange.
