South East Asia
EGGER Group’s latest investment in South East Asia, the
acquisition of a minority stake in Thai producer Panel Plus, is
an indicator of the region’s strong growth potential. What about
South East Asia attracts EGGER? Michael Egger Jr, CSO of the
group, shares more with Yap Shi Quan.

How has EGGER Group performed in
the South East Asian market thus far?
Michael Egger Jr: We have been active
in the South East Asian market to the
extent of a sales region for over 30
years. Throughout this period, we have
successfully built strong expertise
and regional knowledge. Thanks to
successful collaborations with our
customers, we were able to experience
significant growth in the past few years.
Since 2018 we have been operating our
own sales office in Ho Chi Minh City,
Vietnam. We have expanded our team
and are delighted to offer our wide
EGGER product portfolio in the areas
of decorative, flooring and building
products to our customers. In addition
to the production and distribution of
our products in Europe and America,
where we are represented with a total
of 22 production plants, the Asian
market is playing an increasingly
important role in our strategic
considerations. We see it as a
significant growth market.
EGGER will reportedly be contributing
to expanding Panel Plus’ “product
portfolio”. Can you briefly describe
the group’s manufacturing and R&D
capabilities, and how they can serve
the South East Asian markets?
Egger: Our strategic partnership with
Panel Plus gives us the opportunity
to broaden our own market access,
address additional customer target

the southern Thai
province of Songkhla
