Views sought on ward future<br />
New structure,<br />
new names to<br />
be decided<br />

WHAT DO you want your<br />
council ward to be called?<br />
That’s the question being asked<br />
as the council considers a new<br />
ward structure.<br />
As part of the council’s<br />
representation review, it had to<br />
change the structure due to the<br />
growth in Rolleston, meaning the<br />
current ward system no longer<br />
meets legislative requirements.<br />
Two options have now been<br />
confirmed to go out for public<br />
consultation next month, and as<br />
part of it, new names for all wards<br />
will be sought.<br />
In the four ward-eight<br />
councillor option (top right),<br />
the ward boundaries remain<br />
similar, the main difference being<br />
West Melton will be joined with<br />
Lincoln and Prebbleton, and<br />
Burnham will be joined with<br />
Rolleston.<br />
One councillor will cover the<br />
Malvern area, one will cover the<br />
Ellesmere area, three will cover<br />
Rolleston, and three will cover<br />
Lincoln, Prebbleton and West<br />
Melton.<br />
In the three ward-10 councillor<br />
option, much of what is currently<br />
the Malvern and Ellesmere<br />
wards are joined together, and<br />
West Melton will be joined with<br />
Lincoln and Prebbleton, and<br />
Burnham will be joined with<br />
Rolleston.<br />
Three councillors will cover the<br />
joined Malvern and Ellesmere<br />
wards, four will cover Rolleston<br />
and three will cover Lincoln,<br />
Prebbleton and West Melton.<br />
