Raw Sisters bring food positivity message to
RAW SISTERS: Margo and Rosa Flanagan are using their passion for food to encourage
other New Zealanders to host a Pink Ribbon Breakfast for the Breast Cancer Foundation’s
annual fundraising campaign.
MARGO AND Rosa Flanagan
are encouraging their fellow
Cantabrians to host a Pink
Ribbon Breakfast in May, after
teaming up with Breast Cancer
Foundation NZ for its annual
fundraising campaign.
The best-selling cookbook
authors, known as Two Raw
Sisters, are using their passion
for tasty and nutritious food to
inspire Kiwis to tuck in for a good
cause.
“We often have the mindset
that ‘it will never happen to me’
but breast cancer is a lot more
common than we think,” says
Margo who lives in Merivale.
“For us, hosting a Pink Ribbon
Breakfast is more than sitting
round a table with a bunch of
women eating delicious food.
Without the funds raised, Breast
Cancer Foundation NZ can’t continue
their amazing job of breast
cancer education and helping
those affected by the illness.”
For Rosa, the role of diet in
breast cancer prevention and
recovery matches the sisters’ food
philosophy.
“We love making and sharing
recipes that make you feel
great. We want to make it easy
for individuals to love food and
experience the positive impact
good food has on our overall wellbeing.”
Breast cancer is the most
common cancer for Kiwi women,
with around 385 diagnosed in
“We want to make it easy
for individuals to love
food and experience the
positive impact good food
has on our overall wellbeing.”
Canterbury every year.
Pink Ribbon Breakfast is
Breast Cancer Foundation NZ’s
largest annual fundraiser, where
tens of thousands of Kiwis host
special events throughout May
in their homes, workplaces and
communities.
The money raised goes towards
the charity’s life-saving work in
education, research, advocacy and
patient support.
Registrations for the event are
now open at pinkribbonbreakfast.
co.nz.
“Pink Ribbon Breakfast is the
ultimate show of support for the
3500 Kiwi women diagnosed
with breast cancer every year,”
said Ah-Leen Rayner, foundation
chief executive.
“Hosting is easier than ever
before, thanks a new website that
supports people to register, plan
and track their fundraising goals.
“As a charity that doesn’t
receive government funding, it’s
only thanks to the generosity of
New Zealanders that allows us to
do what it takes to stop women
of dying from breast cancer.”
