Stapleton heads down under
Tickets are on sale now for Chris Stapleton’s
Australian tour early next year.
He will play at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena
on March 3.
It is Stapleton’s first Australian tour and
comes as his status as one of the biggest
artists in country music continues.
Kentucky-born Stapleton is an 10x Grammy,
15x CMA and 10x ACM Award-winner and
one of the United States’ most respected and
beloved musicians.
In the midst of yet another triumphant
year, Stapleton recently won two awards
at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards: Best
Country Solo Performance and Best Country
Song (both for his #1 song, ‘White Horse’).
He was also named Entertainer of the Year at
last year’s 58th ACM Awards.

On one hand her lyrics criticise country
music’s sudden and widespread assimilation
into pop culture; boots, hats, rodeo – all
of which she references in the timely track.
Yet it also serves as a celebration of the
genre’s roots, praising its trailblazers and
heroes. “Yeah, you can wear the hat, but you
can’t fake that.”
“Growing up, I wanted to be like Calamity
Jane or Annie Oakley,” she said.
“I loved their outlaw attitude and the way
they fiercely inspired countless women to
blaze their own trails and I see that same
quality in the women I share my life with.”
Social commentary aside, Brooke intended
the song to be a departure from her usual
tendencies.
“Compared to the majority of my songs
that often hold a strong emotional tone, this
one was written with a lightheartedness,”
she said.
