Dear friends, • Per and Abbi Akvist, PCG Mission to Ethiopia • Spring 2024 • **THIS IS A CALL FOR ACTION, AND I AM READY TO TAKE OFF THE GLOVES!** Today, I want to reach out to YOU and every single PCG member in America. I am your representative for the continent of Africa, and we need to team up in a greater way! - Allow me to explain! When I was asked to take on the position of African supervisor, I went into a time of deep prayer where I waited and sought the Lord. After about two weeks, He confirmed this new calling on my life, and it came with such an uplifting joy and strong conviction in my spirit that I knew it could only be from our Lord and Savior. The words "Africa, Arise" resonated within me, becoming my new passion and conviction in serving. As I started to learn more and more about PCG Africa, I realized that in order to create sustainable change, we need to have the Word of God available for everyone, from the layman to top leadership. In 2019, we started a Bible school in Ndola, Zambia. I knew we had to be effective but also keep the expenses low. This was accomplished by teaching five modules per academic year, with each module lasting 8-10 days and teaching from morning to evening. Intensive but effective. I've partnered with Bishop Charles from Malawi and appointed him to be the Dean of the Bible school. He traveled for two days on a public bus, in each direction, to help keep down the expenses. I only came for the first start-up module and also the last to be able to conduct the graduation. This is the first Bible school in the history of PCG Zambia, and after three years, we ordained 27 new ministers. Together with Bishop Charles, we have opened similar Bible schools in Malawi and Mozambique. Last December, we had our first graduating class from the Bible school in Mozambique. Sadly, for 2024, we cannot continue Bible teaching in any of these places because the PCG Africa account is empty. I feel a deep sense of shame mixed with frustration. Shame that we as a denomination cannot mobilize funds for the mission we have already committed to. Frustration in that the need is so great, but the means so little – or, no means, as it stands right now. On a personal note, I do not receive any salary from the PCG. You may think I benefit financially from your donations, but that is incorrect. Everything goes straight to ministry. I do receive about $1,000/month for my family expenses, but my home country of Sweden believes that amount is too little to get by on. I am actually listed as being a low-income earner in my home county, which I find ironic since I have devoted my life to helping those who are truly poor. I am calling out to you today to make a difference for PCG Africa! It is possible to turn things around if we all feel the call of God; it can be done! I am just as confident today in what the Lord instilled in me back in 2019 – AFRICA, ARISE. Let's take on this challenge together! 3 Faithfully serving, Per Akvist JOSHUA CAMPAIGN ETHIOPIA MINISTRY Please make your check payable to “PCG, World Mission” and mail to: PCG, World Mission Department PO Box 211866 Bedford, TX 76095 Indicate with a separate note that your gift is for "Per Akvist, Ethiopia Mission" For online donations, please go to www.pcg.org “Online Giving” tab.
