Adaptive Recreation & Inclusion<br />

The adaptive recreation program is a cooperative<br />

effort <strong>of</strong> the cities <strong>of</strong> <strong>Minnetonka</strong>, St. Louis Park,<br />

Chanhassen, Chaska, and REACH for Resources.<br />

REACH is an agency that serves individuals with<br />

developmental disabilities and their families in the<br />

west and northwest metro area. Services include<br />

information, referral, advocacy and counseling. For<br />

information and registration procedures, call (952)<br />

988-4177. Note: Persons not living in one <strong>of</strong> the<br />

above communities are considered “Non-Resident”<br />

and are charged the indicated non-resident fee to<br />

the registration fee. For more information, call<br />

Inclusion Support – All Ages<br />

REACH for Resources provides inclusion<br />

facilitators for children and adults with disabilities<br />

who would like to participate in their city park<br />

and recreation programs. Registration for these<br />

programs is done through your Recreation<br />

Department. After registering, contact REACH for<br />

Resources to discuss the needs/accommodations<br />

for yourself or your child. We request a minimum<br />

<strong>of</strong> two weeks notice for a successful inclusion.<br />

<strong>Youth</strong> <strong>Programs</strong> (Ages 5 – 12)<br />

Family Yoga<br />

Increase attention span, focus, muscle tone, and<br />

flexibility. Yoga is beneficial in so many ways! This<br />

class is designed for children with disabilities and<br />

their parents to learn yoga together. Siblings are<br />

welcome too! All children must be accompanied<br />

by at least one adult.<br />

Location: St. Louis Park Recreation Center, 3700 Monterey<br />

Drive, St. Louis Park<br />

Dates: Tuesday, January 22–February 26<br />

Time: 7:15–8:15 p.m.<br />

Fee: $50/Parent/Child, $58 for Non-resident ($20 for each<br />

additional family member)<br />

Teen <strong>Programs</strong> (Ages 13 – 21)<br />

Take Five Respite<br />

Do you need something to do during winter<br />

break? Come join our respite program to meet new<br />

friends, experience recreation activities, and get<br />

out <strong>of</strong> the house.<br />

Location: Elim Church–3978 West Broadway Ave.,<br />

Robbinsdale<br />

Dates: December 26–28 & January 2–4<br />

Time: 9 a.m.–3:30 p.m.<br />

Fee: $210 per week<br />

Teen Explorers<br />

Get to know new friends while trying new<br />

activities! Games, art projects, community events,<br />

and more!<br />

Location: Various metro locations<br />

Dates: Tuesday, January 15–March 5<br />

Time: 6:30–8:30 p.m.<br />

Fee: $40, $48 Non-resident<br />

Social Seekers<br />

This is a program for teens and young adults with<br />

Asperger’s Syndrome. We meet once a week for<br />

fun and social interaction. Groups are available for<br />

varying age groups (12–14, 15–18, and 19–30)<br />

and at various locations. Intake is required for all<br />

new participants. Call (952) 988-4176 for more<br />

information.<br />

Adult (Ages 18+)<br />

Club West<br />

Meet new friends while enjoying games, dances,<br />

movies, and bingo.<br />

Location: Various West metro locations<br />

Dates: Wednesday, January 16–March 6<br />

Time: 6:30–8:30 p.m.<br />

Fee: $40, $48 Non-resident<br />

Non-Competitive Basketball League<br />

Have fun and improve your basketball skills.<br />

Yoga<br />

Relax, get in shape, and improve flexibility!<br />

Walking For Health<br />

Keep your body moving! We will walk at various<br />

On The Town<br />

Social program for adults who can explore their<br />

community with minimal supervision.<br />

Transportation may be available for an additional<br />

$35 fee per quarter/per person.<br />

Ages 31+: Saturdays beginning January 19<br />

Fee: $20, $28 Non-resident<br />

Bowling<br />

(Pals & Pins , Young Adults & Adults)<br />

Join us for fun, noncompetitive bowling. You will<br />

bowl 2 games each week.<br />

We will spend the weekend at a hotel<br />
