Baseball Clinics Developmental Baseball Clinics— Hitting, Fielding and Pitching (Pitching for baseball only) Players—here is your opportunity to improve your skills, gain confidence and have some fun leading into the spring season. Each of these 4-week clinics focus on specific skill sets: hitting, pitching, or fielding. Hitting clinics offer an excellent 5:1 player to instructor ratio, while pitching and fielding clinics offer a 5:1 ratio of professional & confidence-building instruction. It is our experience and belief that a player needs individual attention to significantly improve, which empowers a player to have more fun at the ballpark. Practice with a purpose – Certified Pine Tar Academy instructors lead each clinic with a stated goal to simply stay loose, have fun, and get better one opportunity at a time. Students are given ample opportunity to actively engage in the learning process with the approach that practice makes permanent…not perfect! Instructors create a positive learning environment while students learn the value of hard work, failing productively, and the importance of focusing in the moment illustrated in a baseball context. These are habits that will help players strive for excellence whether at the ballpark or in the classroom. This developmental process takes place under the watchful eye of instructors with extensive experience playing and coaching at all levels. The 4-week hitting, fielding and/or pitching clinics are geared towards players ages 7–13, while Pine Tar Academy offers other group and individual activities for players of all ages (please call or email baseball office for details.) Each clinic runs 4 consecutive weeks and has a limit of 10 students, giving players the individual attention required for improvement. Hitting & pitching clinics are offered multiple nights/ times as listed below. Online Registration https://recserv.hopkinsminnetonka.com Volleyball Recreation Services offers some of the best adult volleyball programs in the area. There may still be openings to register a team for the upcoming 10-match winter session of adult volleyball that starts the week of January 2. Matches will be played in the Lindbergh Center at Hopkins High School, or at Hopkins West Junior High Activity Structure. Teams play 6 a side. Matches begin as early as 6:45 p.m. or as late as 8:45 p.m. Women’s League: Games will be played on Monday. Men’s Division: Games will be played on Wednesday. Co-Rec Division: Separate Thursday and Friday leagues. Winter Session starts week of January 2 Fee: $260 Course # Division 27385 Men’s 27386 Women’s 27387 Co-Rec Thursday (Intermediate level) 27388 Co-Rec Friday Volleyball Open Gym Men and women who are interested in developing their volleyball skills in a social, semi-competitive setting are invited to take part in our co-rec open gym program. This Sunday evening program is offered through March 31, 7–9:30 p.m. in the Lindbergh Center at Hopkins High School. Two separate courts of play are offered, based on ability. Nets will be set up and players are asked to bring their own volleyball if possible. Indoor Co-Rec Soccer Here is your chance to play traditional soccer on an indoor court (wood surface approximately 170’ x 100’). There are two 6-week sessions of corec indoor soccer left to play. Team consists of 7 players a side (goalie + 6), with at least one woman on the court at all times. Games are played Sunday evenings starting as early as 5:30 p.m. or as late as 9:30 p.m. in the Lindbergh Center at Hopkins High School. The winter session starts January 6 and the spring session starts March 3. The team registration fee is $525. There is no individual registration available. League information and registration materials are available online at www.eminnetonka.com and registration can be completed by phone, fax, or email. Individuals looking for a team may contact the Recreation Services office at (952) 939-8203 to be placed on a list of available players. Names from the list will be passed on to team managers looking for players to complete their team. The program fee does not include the official t-shirt (Red/White reversible). This t-shirt must be worn by all players and can be purchased at Minnetonka City Hall–Recreation Department for $15 if needed. On Sunday nights, it is free to members of the Lindbergh Center. Advance registration is not required. This activity is for residents of the cities of Hopkins, Minnetonka and the Hopkins School District. Adult Softball It’s not too early to start thinking about spring and summer softball leagues for men’s, women’s and co-rec teams. The following leagues will be offered in 2013: Co-Rec: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday Men’s Single Game: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday Men’s Double-Header: Tuesday, Thursday Women’s: Wednesday Registration materials will be available on February 4. Adult Co-Rec Kickball Adult co-rec kickball leagues will begin play the last week in May. The season consists of seven weeks of play with a playoff for the top 4 teams of each league at the end of the regular season. Separate Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday night leagues are offered with games starting at 6:10 p.m. the week of May 20. Registration materials will be available on February 4.
