Ambassador Anne Slaughter Andrew ‘83, in<br />

ANDREW’S CAREER PATH HAS BEEN<br />

BOTH TRADITIONAL AND SOMEWHAT<br />

UNIqUE. Not only has she worked at major law firms in<br />

the Midwest and on the East Coast, she also co-founded a<br />

medical bio-tech consulting company, and now finds herself<br />

in diplomatic service. After graduating from the law school<br />

in 1983, she worked at the <strong>Indiana</strong>polis law firms <strong>of</strong> Baker &<br />

Daniels and Bingham McHale. In 2000, she and her husband,<br />

attorney Joe Andrew, the former Chair <strong>of</strong> the Democratic<br />

National Committee, moved their family to Washington, D.C.,<br />

where she worked at Patton & Boggs until 2003. In 2004, she<br />

took advantage <strong>of</strong> an opportunity to team up<br />

with a friend and join Anson Group LLC, a biotech<br />

consulting company, which she co-led until 2007. After<br />

networking with and informally advising clean technology<br />

companies, Andrew formed a strategic consulting company<br />

in 2009, New Energy Nexus LLC, and advised companies<br />

and entrepreneurs on investments and strategies to capitalize<br />

on the “New Energy Economy.”<br />

In her new role as Ambassador, she is currently traveling<br />

throughout Costa Rica to listen and learn. One recent trip<br />

to the province <strong>of</strong> Guanacaste focused on the challenges
