The Aim of the Consultation Strategy
CONSULTATION STRATEGY
Dundee City Council Local Housing Strategy
In this part of the Local Housing Strategy we will describe how we have drawn
together the LHS in consultation with a range of partners. We will describe how
options have been appraised and how actions have been agreed.
Most importantly we will describe how we will put community planning into action,
by identifying where different partners will be responsible for delivering the
strategy, monitoring performance, identifying new issues and options and
identifying new objectives.
We also know that there are some groups who have not been as involved in the
process as we or they would have preferred, so we have suggested ways to make
up this deficit.
The Process of Consultation and Option Appraisal
Arrangements for planning within the Dundee Partnership are well established.
These existing planning arrangements have been used to develop the Local Housing
Strategy to ensure consistency and integration with community planning
partnerships.
Over 2003, all relevant planning forums were alerted to the need to prepare plans
for the LHS. Where no planning groups were available for a particular issue, efforts
were made to speak with relevant individuals or to create working groups to
investigate the issues. The outcomes of these planning meetings were combined to
form the consultation draft of the LHS.
Also attached at the end of this section is a chart which identifies when and with
whom meetings were held regarding the Local Housing Strategy and the proposed
action plans.
At each meeting a presentation was made to those present outlining the following:
• What is the Local Housing Strategy.
• When did it have to be completed.
• How will the consultation be carried out.
• How can the public have an input to the Strategy.
• When do we require feedback.
A meeting was held with the Registered Social Landlords and the presentation
followed the above format, however, a proforma/questionnaire was designed to
allow the Housing Associations and the other voluntary sector partners to influence
the scope of Dundee City Council’s Local Housing Strategy.
