screws have been used for fixing
tendons in the reconstruction of
anterior and posterior cruciate
ligaments for many years.
However, the enthusiasm surrounding
the use of polyactide
interference screws in a variety of different forms was increasingly
beset by negative clinical experiences as times passed.
The new Richard Wolf Bioact IF OSTEOTRANS screw is a new generation
of bioactive and bioresorbable interference screws.
The unique composite material made of Poly-L-Lactide (PLLA) and
Hydroxiapatite (HA) demonstrates an osteoconductive effect in
bones. Trabecular structures grow into the surface oft he implant
within a short space of time. The mechanical characteristics generated
in the course of the special manufacturing process fort the material
are comparable with the properties oft he surrounding bone.
Complete bone resorption will be realized after 4-6 years.

The modular and multi-functional
orthotic SofTec Lumbo is
used for stabilization of the lumbar
spine and the lumbosacral
transition. The SofTec Lumbo
combines a knitted base and an
outer knitted fabric. The highly
elastic and breathable knitted
base provides maximum comfort.
The outer knitted fabric is
vertically stretchable, ensuring stability under tension and an optimal
fit. The combination of the anatomically formed plastic half-shell and
/ or the carbon fiber- reinforced plastic rods provides an effective system
for the stabilization and support of the lumbar spine. The modular
design allows controlled therapy according to an individually
adaptable three-phase therapeutic scheme: a stabilization phase, a
mobilization phase and an active phase. The various components of
the lumbar brace can be combined individually according to the
requirements of each rehabilitation stage.
