First graders just completed their unit on the rainforest. students selected an
animal from the rainforest to study and research. They created a three-dimensional
animal and created a PowerPoint with the help of sixth graders. you can view these
PowerPoints on our websites. The children celebrated rainforest day by dressing like
they were going on a safari and experiencing many activities. They ended their study
with a trip to selby Gardens.
The third grade participated in a wonderful musical performance called
harriet’s Freedom Train. This is the compelling story of harriet Tubman set
to a delightful series of songs. The music took us back in time to the 1800s
telling her story of misery, bondage, and emancipation. The children were
directed by dr. Vasilaki with linda malisoff on flute.
2nd:
don’t “let the cat out of
the bag,” but the second
graders “drummed up
business” for the 3 rd
annual Amelia Bedelia
Fashion show. The
children “went bananas”
while studying idioms
and words with multiple
meanings. The show
was led by “substitute’
teachers Amelia Bedelia,
emily Bemily, and
hutler the Butler. some
of the more popular
fashions were “boxer”
shorts, “tank tops,”
and “turtlenecks” with
blazers. The grand finale
featured “ball gowns” and
a tuxedo complete with
“cumber-buns” and “bow
ties.” The best part was
that the show didn’t cost
an arm and a leg!
